I got the essential oil lavender, vanilla, wild flowers ๐Ÿ’ and sea breeze ๐ŸŒŠ. It makes me feel peaceful and it smells so well. I hope to sleep better because of it. I also got as a surprise a beautiful balloon ๐ŸŽˆ. I loved it so much. I asked some people if it was a present from them haha but at the end my bestie told me it was from her, haha so cute!! ๐Ÿ’–

From Guillermo ๐Ÿ˜„

I got a lovely letter from Guillermo. He wanted to give me a card too but he couldn’t get it because it was during lockdown. I loved the Spanish letter. It was beautiful! ๐Ÿ’•

I also loved the keyring with my initials the letter C and a surf girl charm ๐Ÿ„โ€โ™€๏ธ. What I loved the most and cried SO much about was the picture of Spain in a picture frame. She knows how much I miss Spain ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ. Just writing this makes me cry again. I really can’t wait to be in Spain again. Until I’m not there Chloe made this for me on the computer. It’s beautiful. I have it in my room now. All the presents were so personalised. I love Spain, yoga, surfing and stationery. I love you so much and I can’t wait to finally meet each other. Summer bucket list 2020 ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ„๐ŸŒด๐Ÿง๐Ÿน๐Ÿธ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Hey lovelies ๐Ÿ’•,

Before I share a birthday haul post which is a bit overdue hahah I want to share this blog post. I’m going to share again a Summer bucket list ๐ŸŒž. I often write down 100 things in a journal but it isn’t all achievable of course. I will try to only point down the most important things. If you make a long list of things you want to do, you most likely will not do them all. It could maybe overwhelm you instead of having fun and doing them. This Summer I want to be happy and enjoy life while being safe and follow the safety measures of the pandemic. We all have to enjoy our Summer time but we also have to keep aware and know that the Coronavirus isn’t away. We still have to keep distance, wash our hands and be careful ๐Ÿ™. Let’s get started! ๐Ÿ’–

  • Fly to Spain โœˆ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ

I can’t wait to go to Spain because we didn’t went there since Christmas time. I’m mostly always a bit anxious of travelling. I have to admit that I’m now more anxious to go because of all the things you have to do while travelling. You have to wear a mask in the airplane and during the travel day. I’m afraid to get really anxious or get a panic attack ๐Ÿ˜ข. I of course agree with the safety measures. You also have to fill in a health paper to declare that you aren’t sick. They can check your temperature when you arrive at the airport. Travelling is not like we used to know it. I really want to go with my mother to Spain and enjoy our Summer there ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ˜. I guess it’s okay we are anxious to travel. I just hope we won’t get sick. I also miss Spain so much so it would be so nice to finally be there. We maybe go at the end of July. I will keep you all updated how things will go.

  • Spend time with family & friends ๐Ÿ‘ช๐Ÿ‘ญ

I miss seeing my family so much. I only see my parents and sometimes my brother and his wife from a distance. I miss seeing my almost 5 year old niece. Her birthday is in July just like the birthday of my brother Edward. I can’t wait to see my niece, Edward and Elke again. They hopefully will come to our house this month. We haven’t seen each other since Christmas ๐Ÿ˜ญ. I also miss my friends so much. Some friends I didn’t see for a half year, others for a year. I can’t wait to have amazing plans with them in The Netherlands and in Spain ๐Ÿ’–. I’m already going on a lunch with my bestie this month and will also go surfing with her ๐Ÿ„. My other friend from Irak is also coming to my house. I also can’t wait to celebrate my birthday in Spain with my lovely friends and eat delicious tapas all together. Spending time with your loved ones is the best thing you can do. Always be around people who are sunshine for you and not around people who drain you. They aren’t worth it.

  • Go to the beach ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿš

This Summer as always I want to go to the beach many times ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒŠ. I already went twice to the beach in The Netherlands. It’s one hour away with the bike. I loved it so much even though the water here isn’t clear like in Spain haha. Beach time is what makes me the most happy. I’m a mermaid and beach girl forever. Summer isn’t good if I don’t go to the beach. The sea knows all my secrets and heals my heart. If we go to Spain, then I hope to go to the beach there too. The beach is there 3 hours away by train. It’s so beautiful in Santander. There’s also a little surf village which is called Somo near to Santander. I would love to go there again. I went there with my mother a few years ago.

  • Go surfing ๐Ÿ„

I can’t wait to go surfing again! ๐Ÿ˜ I always do this on my Summer bucket list but didn’t go surfing since more than 4 years. I miss it so much. My best friend and I were about to go last Summer but it was bad weather so we didn’t go. This Summer we will definitely go surfing together. I can’t wait. Here there’s always wind so it’s a great beach to surf. Maybe I will go surfing too in Somo, in Spain. I would love to go again to a surf camp. You learn so much there. The surfing lifestyle is the best way to live life โœŒ๐Ÿ’–. Enjoying nature, being present and that feeling of being alive when you are out there in the ocean catching a wave. Hearing the waves crashing to the shore and tasting the salt air and sea all creates a sense of peace and freedom. We all need that in life.

  • Read books ๐Ÿ“š

I love reading books and I find the Summer months the best months to read ๐Ÿ“–. I love to read outside in our garden. I also love to read in the park or on the beach. I already read some books these months which I have to review soon. This Summer I would love to read at least 3 books if that’s possible. I don’t want to say more because I’m a slow reader and I don’t want to create unnecessary stress. We learn so much from reading. It’s lovely to read on a Summer day with a glass of lemonade or red wine. You drive away into paradise ๐ŸŒด.

  • Make smoothies, aรงai bowls & ice pops ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“

I love to make fruit smoothies. I used to make them a lot and I really miss making them. I want to make a lot more these Summer. I also would love to make ice pops and aรงai bowls because I never did that before. I love how it looks like. It must be delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹. I really want to try to make them and share it with you guys. Let me know if you ever tried to make this and which flavour was the most delicious one. All of these are so refreshing for a hot Summer day and also very healthy which is just a win-win haha.

  • Practice yoga in a studio or outside ๐Ÿ™

I do yoga almost every damn day now since March and it helps me so much with anxiety. I feel more at home in my body. I enjoy being spiritual too and just feel more in sync with life and mother nature. I do yoga with Yoga Girl, my biggest inspiration. I do it on her website. Every month I pay just โ‚ฌ14 and I can do everything on there. The live classes with Yoga Girl are so amazing ๐Ÿ’–. I also do full moon ๐ŸŒ•๐ŸŒœ๐ŸŒ› ceremonies on there. Doing yoga at home is nice but I also would love to do it again in a studio or have a class outside. I only did that twice in my life. Sometimes I find myself being a bit anxious in a room because of feeling judged in a room full of people. I don’t like big groups. Hopefully I can overcome that and take a class in a studio in The Netherlands or in Spain. The connection you feel with others is so beautiful and so important too in a yoga practice. It makes you feel even more at one with this beautiful world we live in.

Doing yoga at home
  • Share singing covers ๐ŸŽถ

This was the only time I shared a singing cover on my blog. Hopefully I will be able to share more covers here and also on my Instagram ๐ŸŽค. Sometimes I’m just a bit anxious to share it. I love singing but it always takes a lot of courage to film yourself and share it online because of the negative people out there. We just have to think that if someone says something bad about you, it says more about that person than about you. I will have to keep doing what I love because that makes me the most happy. I hope you guys will enjoy it when I’m ready to share it. I also sometimes thought about making a Youtube channel for singing covers but that makes a bit too anxious to do that now. Maybe in the future, who knows.

  • Spend time in nature ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒน

Spending time in nature is a must during the warm months. I love it so much. I don’t like Winter so I enjoy being outside in Summer. I love to go to the park, enjoy our garden and go to the beach. I love to walk around and go biking ๐Ÿšฒ with my mother. Nature is so alive right now so we have to enjoy it. Spending time in nature also means soaking up the sunshine which is so important for our health too. The sun gives us energy, vitamin D and makes us happier. We need sun light ๐ŸŒž. Don’t forget to always wear sunscreen.

  • Declutter my wardrobe ๐Ÿ‘—

Basically I have to organize my whole room and sort things out but let’s being with my wardrobe. I have to do it here and in Spain. I just never do it haha because I don’t like it. It’s been ages now and it really needs to get done ๐Ÿ™. I also have a hard time in letting clothes go. Some I will treasure and others I will have to donate or sell. I want to try the Marie Kondo way. I hope it works out this Summer. If you have some tips, please let me know.

  • Keep writing poems ๐Ÿ“

I will keep writing poetry in my journal. I hope to be able to share some of my poetry on here. I will also of course keep writing letters to my pen pals and write for my blog. I love to get inspiration from being on the beach or outside in my garden. Whenever I get inspiration โœจ I write it down because otherwise I forget it easily.

Poem about speaking up
  • Be happy, have fun and make the best of this Summer! ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒˆ

On top of this list is just trying to make the best of this Summer. Hakuna matata โœŒ. Being happy and just enjoying Summer time on our own way is the most important thing. It’s important to take pressure away of having the best Summer ever because every Summer has its ups and downs like life. Summer is my favourite season ever. I’m a Summer and beach girl forever. I’m always SO happy when Summer arrives. In Spain the sun shines every day so I can’t wait to go there and have loads of fun.

Thank you all for reading this fun blog post. I hope you will all have an amazing Summer full of responsible adventure times ๐ŸŒžโœŒ. I hope you will all enjoy it with your family and friends. Make loads of memories. Be safe too. What are you going to this Summer? Are you staying at home or are you going to travel? What of my list are you going to do? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love ๐Ÿ’•,

xoxo Christina

May favourites ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒž

Hola lovelies ๐Ÿ’•,

It was so hot these days ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ”ฅ. I’m happy Summer is back but I can’t deal with the heat. In The Netherlands 30 degrees is way too much and also humid. In Spain I’m used to the Summer but it’s dry which is different. Right now, there’s a bit of a storm. Always the same weather here haha. I’m really happy I enjoyed some beach days which I will share with you all soon. Now, I will share about my May favourites. In this blog post I will share about my bike tour ๐Ÿšฒ through Haarlem with my mother, writing a story for a writing contest ๐Ÿ“ and winning some giveaways.

Things I did with my lovely family ๐Ÿ‘ช:

Bike tour through Haarlem ๐Ÿšฒ๐ŸŒž

I love biking through Haarlem with mamita ๐Ÿ˜. It’s been ages since I used the bike haha how bad ๐Ÿ˜‚. I just feel sometimes a lack of energy or my heart beats fast when I bike. I do it on my own time with my mother. I don’t have a bike to use in Spain. It’s been lovely weather all these months. I’m so grateful for these beautiful moments full of sunshine ๐ŸŒž. I’m also blessed to live in Haarlem, such a romantic city. I prefer small cities so much more than big cities. We did a bike tour from our house through our park to Haarlem city. We sat along the river Spaarne and saw some cute animals such as lama’s, a pony and a duck with babies. I loved it. They were so cute!!! On the way home we saw my brother and his wife from the balcony. I hate to not be able to hug each other normally but it is what it’s. Better than nothing. I love you. I believe in the good things coming. Stay safe you all ๐Ÿ’ž

Mother’s Day ๐Ÿ’

I was sad that we couldn’t celebrate Mother’s Day like we always do each year with the whole family. At least, my brother and his wife came to our home to give my mother beautiful flowers, a card, pie they made and chocolate. I gave my mother also a handmade card and a phone case with flowers and a butterfly on it. She loved it very much. I’m sure next year will be better. I’m so happy to have a beautiful mother like you are. Thank you for being there for me in good and bad times. I love you till the moon and back ๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒœ๐ŸŒ›.

Walks in the park ๐ŸŒณ

I had some nice walks with my mother in the park and we enjoyed the sunshine. One day we ate delicious ice cream ๐Ÿฆ. My mother ate a Magnum and I ate a raket rocket. I love it! I also enjoyed the daisies and the other beautiful yellow flowers ๐ŸŒป. I love to see the flowers blossom and all the green in the park. It’s such a beautiful world.

Watching Eurovision Europe shine a light ๐Ÿ’ก๐ŸŽถ

There was no real Eurovision this year but I’m happy to have enjoyed this alternative show called ”Europe shine a light”. I always watch Eurovision every year together with my mother. Music always unites people and especially in hard times. I loved to see Duncan Laurence singing his new single Someone Else. It was so beautiful ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽค. I loved the orchestra performance too. I also loved so much when all the participants across Europe performed the song Love Shine A Light by Katrina And The Waves. I hope next year I can join the family show with my friend live in Rotterdam because I already bought tickets for it.

Watched Begin again, Frankie and Johnny & the serie Never have I ever ๐ŸŽฌ

I loved the movie Begin again with Keira Knightley and Adam Levine. It’s a sweet movie about a singer-songwriter who is chasing her dreams. I loved the songs and it really inspired me to follow my dreams. I love singing so much too but I don’t know if being famous would be something for me. I also liked the movie Frankie and Johnny with the famous actors Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer. Johnny has just been released from prison, and gets a job in a cafรฉ beside waitress Frankie. Frankie is a bit of a loner, but Johnny is determined their romance will blossom. I think it was a beautiful movie that makes you think about how love finds you. It wasn’t a clichรฉ movie at all. I also loved the first season of the serie Never have I ever which I saw on Netflix. All episodes are just 20 or 30 minutes long. It’s about The complicated life of a modern-day first generation Indian American teenage girl, inspired by Mindy Kaling’s own childhood. It was so good. It was about the trauma of loosing a parent, grief, heartbreak, friendship, family, school, the Indian and American culture and love. I cried and laughed at the same time while watching these episodes. I can’t wait for a second season!!!! ๐Ÿ˜

Operaciรณn Triunfo 2020 ๐ŸŽค

My favourite Spanish talent show Operaciรณn Triunfo 2020 came back for a month ๐ŸŽถ. It got suspended in March because of the pandemic. The 9 contestants had to leave the singing academy. In this academy they also sleep. You can watch what they do on a livestream because there are camera’s in the academy. It’s so much fun. Every week there’s a liveshow where they sing some songs. At the end the winner got chosen a few weeks ago. I’m so happy Nia won because she rocked every song which they had given to her. She can sing, dance and perform the best. The winner gets โ‚ฌ100.000. Sometimes I also think of going to this talent show and participating in the casting. I just don’t know if being exposed so much would trigger more of my anxiety and if it would be something for me. I love this talent show so much. The teachers and the production are so kind. In 2017 I went to one of the concerts in Madrid with my friend and it was one of the best experiences in my life. You really build such a beautiful fan relationship with the artists which come out from this talent show. I can’t wait for a new edition! ๐Ÿ’–

Things I did with my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’•:

My best friend’s birthday ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽ‰

I couldn’t celebrate the birthday of my best friend for obvious reasons. I was happy to have made her a beautiful collage which I always make and a beautiful handmade card. As you all know, I love writing letters and making cards. As present I got her Lush products which was a shower gel and soap. I’m happy she loved it. I love you to the moon and back. Thank you for being the best best friend I could wish for ๐Ÿ’•.

Sending cards to people who are sick, lonely or need to cheer up ๐Ÿ’Œ

There was a girl which I follow on Instagram who was writing cards to people she don’t know in The Netherlands. I asked to join the group and already sent more than 40 cards to people who are mentally or physically ill, lonely or just need to cheer up in The Netherlands. Coronavirus made the elderly more lonely and receiving a card made them happy. I got the stamps for free and also the beautiful cards for free because it was a donation. I love to write and help other people. It makes me feel less alone in my own struggles of this life and it makes me feel happy. I love to be of service. You never know what someone is going through so be kind always and spread love because we all need it so much ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ™.

Other amazing things of May ๐Ÿ’–:

Writing a story for the Sea of words contest ๐Ÿ“

I wrote a story in Spanish for the โ€A sea of wordsโ€ contest. It has the same name as my blog. The European Institute of the Mediterranean tagged me on a post in Instagram. The contest is every year. This year it was about young people faced with climate change in the Mediterranean and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ๐ŸŒŠ. The story I wrote is about me being in the sea with my boat and then suddenly being stuck surrounded by plastic bottles. Then a man comes to help me and talks about how important it is to take action. I already won an essay contest in 2015 and spoke at the United Nations in New York City ๐Ÿ—ฝ so I thought why not try again even though my inner critic is loud sometimes. The jury is now reviewing the stories. The 10 best winners will be chosen in July and will go to Barcelona at the end of September for free and will have a creative writing course. Itโ€™s really so amazing. I will keep you all updated.

Winning a scarf from the shop Azabache ๐Ÿ’–

Nowadays I’m entering so many giveaways on Instagram. I love it so much especially when I win of course. I won a beautiful scarf from my favourite shop in Valladolid. Azabache has so many beautiful hippie clothes. I bought a lot of dresses and other clothes there. I won a scarf with the famous print of Gustav Klimt ๐ŸŽจ. It’s beautiful.

Winning books from Melissa Wells and The Goddess Collective journal ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ†

I love Melissa Wells. She is a certified eating psychology coach and health coach. She has such a beautiful community. In December after doing the advent challenge I won a membership to The Godess Collective online which is a platform to work on loving ourselves, growing ourselves and has so many amazing workshops. Now I won the giveaway on Instagram. I love to keep winning stuff haha. Normally I wouldn’t won anything. I won the books from Melissa Wells which are about the diet culture, loving ourselves and having a healthy relationship with food. I don’t struggle that much with this topic but I love to learn more about it though. I also won the journal which is so beautiful. We are all goddesses yeahhh! I can’t wait to go her retreat in Bali too one day ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒŠ. That would be so magical.

Flower box postcards set ๐ŸŒธ

I bought a beautiful flower postcards set online. I can use them for my pen pals and other people I write. It contains 100 postcards with flowers ๐Ÿ’ by 10 different artists. The 10 cards from each artist are different from each other. I love flowers. The cards are colourful, original and just so beautiful. It was โ‚ฌ20 but definitely worth the prize!

Thank you all for reading this blog post. What did you do in May? Did you ever won a giveaway on Instagram? Do you love to go biking? Did you ever participated in a writing contest? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love ๐Ÿ’•,

xoxo Christina

Black lives matter ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ‘Š

Hey lovelies ๐Ÿ’•,

I wanted to write a blog post about my birthday presents ๐ŸŽ but first I have to write a more important post which is a poem about Black Lives Matter. I will also talk more about racism in this post. We can’t close our eyes anymore for what has happened in our world and what is happening now. Racism exists in every form, not only in America. It also exists in Europe. White privilege and white supremacy is real. It’s so easy to ignore the pain of what black people have to go through because we don’t experience it on a daily basis. If we are black people and have to suffer this on a daily basis and watch people murdered just because of their skin colour, we would definitely think different about this whole situation. We can’t ignore racism anymore.

In America racism is more obvious because of the different cultures living there. In America you can also see the difference between poor and rich much more than in other countries in Europe. It’s more obvious I think. Slavery and racism have always existed. Europe exists because our countries made colonies and murdered people because of their colour. The Netherlands did that too. UK too and Spain and many more countries. It’s horrible to think that we as white people made this possible ๐Ÿ˜ข. It’s our history. I want to read more about it because I want to educate myself better and understand everything. I think I will buy some books related to racism and white privilege.

I never talked before about the topic of racism because it makes me feel insecure sometimes. I find it uncomfortable if I don’t know enough about the subject. I don’t want to hurt other people. I think I don’t know enough of it to speak up. Now, I realise that that doesn’t matter. I can speak up and still learn new things and grow from what I know now. If we all think this way we are only just embracing our white privilege. We have to speak up about it because that’s the only way to help others. We have to be an ally for black people. Not speaking up is no option anymore. You can’t say that you are not a racist and being silent. That’s just not the right way to handle things. If nobody speaks up about a difficult topic nothing will change. We have to listen to the black people and do our learning process on our own.

I have a friend who is black and I always was with her in the church singing. I don’t see her much anymore but she still has a place in my heart. I have never seen her different because of her skin colour. Human beings learn within the years racist attitudes and thoughts. I remember she was playing with me in my neighbourhood and people called her mean names such as “chocolate” and wanted her to go away. I feel guilty now thinking of this because I didn’t do enough. I had to stand up for her. Now, I would do that. It is okay to see what I did wrong then and change my behaviour now and for the future.

It’s okay to look back to the mistakes we made. We can learn from it and grow from it. Now and always is the time to donate money to organizations which help back people. I already donated money for the organization which helps black people called “Black lives matter”. You can donate here. Every dollar or euro counts. I also signed a petition for the death of George Floyd. He was killed by a white police man putting his knee in his neck. 9 minutes long he wasn’t able to breath. I saw the pictures and it horrified me. This happened in America but to be honest this racism action exists everywhere. Maybe not in the same form but it still exists. Don’t look back from it but say something against it. We can’t let this happen again.

I will share with you now the poem I made for black lives matter. I hope it inspires others to educate yourself and be a real ally for black people.

Black lives matter

George Floyd got killed by a white police man in America

Just because he is a black man

Sandra Bland, Nia Wilson, Freddie Gray, Breonna Taylor

Those are just a few names who also got killed by their skin colour

How long are we going to go on with this without stopping racism?

We all have been way to ignorant with this problem

I admit that I feel guilty about that too

It’s so much easier to close our eyes for things we don’t want to feel

That’s called

White privilege

We can’t imagine how much pain black people go through so we close our eyes, heart and ignore it

So, we say ”I’m not racist, all lives matter” which is a wrong statement

Not all lives matter

Black people get killed because of their skin colour

It isn’t fair

Now it’s the time to speak up

Staying silence is only making things worse

Our discomfort is nothing compared to their pain

Educate yourself, read books, donate money, be a real ally for black people

Call people out when someone is making racist jokes

”Be the change you wish to see in the world ๐ŸŒโค๏ธ”

Come in action

Do it now, not later

Change is coming and it has to start with ourselves

Our thoughts and action matter

Let’s do it all together

We can do it, yes we can! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ‘Š

Thank you all for reading this important blog post ๐Ÿ™. We have to talk about racism always not only when something big is happening. This is happening for years and it’s time to fight against it. Speak up and be the change in the world. What do you do to be a good ally for black people? Which books are you reading and which ones would you recommend me to read? What do you think of racism? Have you ever experienced any form of racism? Let me know lovelies.

I’m always here for you. My blog is free from judgement. My blog is pro black people, pro mentally ill or any other illness, pro choice and anything. I will always fight for justice in the world. I’m a feminist, mental health warrior and will always speak up about any injustice in the world. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love ๐Ÿ’•,

xoxo Christina

April book reviews ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’–

Hey lovelies ๐Ÿ’•,

I hope you are all doing fine while the world is going crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I’m having anxiety some days and now feel not well with cramps, headaches and so tired. I just had my period too. I just hope I’m not getting sick again like in February or that it’s something more scary. I have sometimes anxiety about my health too. It gets overwhelming especially these days ๐Ÿ˜”. I just hope everything will be fine one day ๐Ÿ™. At least I’m still blogging, reading, writing, grouding myself, doing yoga, meditation and I’m still kinda alive.

I know this blog post is waaaay too late but it doesn’t matter haha ๐Ÿ˜‚. I already finished reading some other books but first I want to share some reviews of the books I’ve read last year. In this blog post I will review the books The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and Moon Theory by R. M. Drake. I had to do these reviews earlier because it’s much easier to write a blog post when you just have read the books and it’s still fresh in your mind. Anyway, I hope you will like this post as I know many of you are also readers. Books are life! ๐Ÿ“šโค๏ธ

The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald

Summary:

The Great Gatsby is an important book of the writing career of F. Scott Fitzgerald. It’s considered one of the great classics of the twentieth-century literature. In his book he writes about the Jazz Age. The story is about Jay Gatsby who is very rich and about his new love called Daisy. Gatsby is famous for his big parties ๐ŸŽ‰ where he invites a lot of people on Long Island. The story shows exactly how America was during the 1920s.

My review:

I love how Fitzgerald writes in this book because some sentences feels very poetic. It’s a good book which made you feel like you are living during the 1920s in America ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ. I loved to read about the big parties and how fancy their clothes were. I would love to go to one of his parties even though I don’t drink at all haha. I have to admit that sometimes I found the writing style difficult because there were some words I didn’t understand so sometimes I found it difficult to keep reading. I’m used to reading Young Adult books so it was something different to read.

Quotes:

โ€œAnd so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.โ€

โ€œHe looked at her the way all women want to be looked at by a man.โ€

Stars: โญโญโญ

I give this book three stars because I liked it but it isn’t one of my favourite books. I just prefer young adult books because they are much easier to read. However, it’s a good book and I’m sure many of you also liked it.

Everything, Everything – Nicola Yoon

Summary:

This book is about a girl called Madeline who has a rare disease. Itโ€™s a form of Severe Combined Immunodeficiency. She is allergic to everything and can’t leave her house. She hasn’t left her house for already 15 years. Her mother and her nurse Carla take care of her. One day everything change because some new neighbors came. Olly will change her life for good ๐Ÿ’•. She wants to feel alive and wants to do everything life has to offer. Madeline knows for sure that she is going to fall in love with Olly and that it will be a hell of a ride.

My review:

I have never read a book that fast for a long time. I finished this book in two weeks during last Summer ๐ŸŒž. It was so AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL!!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’–It was also such an easy book to read. I love how the writer makes you fall in love with the characters so fast and made you feel like you actually live that story. It was just so incredible. The end was also a plot twist. I won’t say any spoilers for the ones who didn’t read it. I think it’s such an inspiring book and also such a beautiful love story but not in a cliche way. I definitely cried some tears. There are some really great quotes which I will share below with you.

Quotes:

โ€œFrom so high above it, the world seems ordered and deliberate.
But I know it’s more than that. And less. It is structured and chaotic. Beautiful and strange.โ€

โ€œLife is a gift. Donโ€™t forget to live it.โ€

โ€œEverythingโ€™s a risk. Not doing anything is a risk, Itโ€™s up to you.โ€

โ€œMaybe growing up means disappointing the people we love.โ€

โ€œYou can find the meaning of life in a book.โ€

 โ€œYou hate the ocean?
I don’t hate it. I respect it. Respect. It’s Mother Nature at her finest – awesome, beautiful, impersonal, murderous.โ€

Stars: โญโญโญโญโญ

Definitely 5 stars! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’ซ It was a fun, beautiful and inspiring book. This is already one of my favourite books which I’ve ever read. I also loved the drawings in this book which were made by the hushband of Nicola Yoon. It fits perfectly with the story and made it even better. You could really live with the characters, live through their story and feel their emotions.

Moon Theory – Robert M. Drake

Summary:

This poetry book is about self love ๐Ÿ’–, love, life and everything in between. Robert M. Drake is a poet and became famous on Instagram. This book is a collection of many poems of him. Many poems are about being real, being yourself, standing up for yourself and feeling your feelings as they come and go. He has written loads of poetry books.

My review:

I loved this poetry book so much! ๐Ÿ˜„ It was so well written. All the poems were so beautiful and inspiring. I could really feel all of his emotions and also relate to them in my own life. It was just so good. Some of the poems made me emotional too. He also write poetry which is mental health related. It makes me feel less alone. We need those people so badly in this world especially this time ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ™. They are the ones who heal our hearts. While reading this book you can heal your own heart too. He is such a great writer. I will show some of my favourite poems below.

Stars: โญโญโญโญโญ

I give this book 5 stars of course without any doubt! It was a beautiful poetry book. I wish to read more poetry books of him and also some novels he has written. I hope they will be as good as this one or maybe even better who knows.

Thank you so much for reading this blog post. Have you read any of these books? Did you like them? What are you reading right now? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love ๐Ÿ’•,

xoxo Christina

A to Z of things to do while being in self isolation ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ™

Hey lovelies ๐Ÿ’•,

I have not been doing well at times because of anxiety. I get overwhelmed by all what’s happening in the world. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night sweating and felt also cold. I was so anxious to get sick ๐Ÿ˜ข. I had cramps. It will get over though. I also have my period soon so everything is harder. At least the sun shines brightly this weekend ๐ŸŒž and we can enjoy it in the garden and in the park. I know many bloggers and other people are writing these kinds of posts which I love to read. They all inspire me so much. I thought about writing my own post about it but different than others. One day I wrote a post which was called A to Z of my favourite things in life. I loved to make it as it was much fun. I hope you will like it too and that it inspires you during this though time ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’–.

A – Make art ๐ŸŽจ

It’s the perfect time to get creative, draw, paint and write ๐Ÿ“.

BBaking ๐Ÿฒ and bath time ๐Ÿ›€

I can’t bake well but I would love to learn to do it more. I used to bake some cookies ๐Ÿช with my daddy when I was little and I loved it. I love to take a bath so much. It’s so relaxing and calming. I just bought some amazing Lush bubble bars and bath bombs which I can’t wait to use.

C – Make a collage ๐Ÿ’–

I used to love making collages in journals and for school too. It’s a great time to do this now. Get creative and put your favourite things of your life in it. You could even later use it for your room as decoration.

DDrawing ๐Ÿ–๏ธ and dancing ๐Ÿ’ƒ

I can’t draw very well but I know so many of you can. Take the time to draw something nice. I love to have some good old dance parties in my room too while listening to my fav artist Taylor Swift ๐Ÿ˜. It’s so good for us to move.

EEating ๐Ÿด

Hahah I mean I can’t live without eating some good food ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‹. Now is the perfect time to eat some healthy food and also enjoy some nice chocolate and whatever you would like. I would love to make some delicious fruit smoothies too. I always make them during Summer months.

FFacetime with your friends and family ๐Ÿ‘ช and feel your feelings ๐Ÿ™

It’s important to stay in contact with our loved ones even though we can’t see them. I don’t use Facetime because I have no iPhone but of course Skype, Zoom, Whatsapp videocall or whatever works for you exists too. At least you can see that person and talk to them. It’s a great way to release emotions to. It’s so important to feel our feelings whether that’s happiness, anger, sadness or whatever comes up. Your feelings are valid. Right now we are all suffering and surviving on our way. Find a way to feel your feelings, release them and then let them go.

G Gaming ๐ŸŽฎ

I don’t play at all games but I love Sims. I wish to play it again. I also loved to play Rollercoaster Tycoon, Sonic and Super Mario Bros. I wish to have that at home right now. It’s a great time to do some nice games.

H Horse riding ๐Ÿด and house cleaning ๐Ÿงฝ

This one sounds maybe strange because many people can’t leave the house. In The Netherlands it’s still alowed to go horse riding, walking or being outside in nature if there are not much people around. It’s really nice for the ones who are able to do it. I have never been such a fan of horses but some of them are really beautiful. One day I also rode one little horse haha omggg I was scared. They are so huge! You could also use this time to clean your house. I already cleaned a bit of my room but I have to do it way more and also organize some stuff.

IImagine yourself at a beautiful place ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒด

I always love to daydream and to imagine myself on a beautiful island enjoying the beach, the sunshine and being under a palmtree. I’m forever a hippie and Summer girl ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿฆ„๐Ÿค™. Whenever I imagine myself on a beautiful place I feel calmer and I sometimes use it to be able to sleep better. It makes you happier, more hopeful and just lighter. We need imagination to feel better especially during these though times where the whole world feels scary and uncertain.

J Journalling ๐Ÿ“

Journalling is so nice. I do it sometimes but I wish to do it more. I also would love to begin one day with a bullet journal. I’m just not so consistent like with my blog. Some bullet journals which I have seen online are so beautiful. I love to be that creative one day.

K – To be kind ๐Ÿ˜Š and kissing ๐Ÿ’‹

Being kind is so important especially nowadays. Be kind to yourself and to others. You can write someone a letter, be there for them and help them with anything they need. Also, if you are self-isolated with the people you love it can be possible to kiss that person or otherwise blow some kisses in the air haha.

L Learn something new ๐Ÿ’ญ and listen to some good music ๐ŸŽถ

It’s a great time to learn something new. Maybe learn a new language, learn to play an instrument or try to learn a dance. There are many ways to learn something new with the internet. I would love to learn to play guitar and piano one day. Unfortunately I don’t have them at home. I love to listen to some music. It makes me happier and calmer too. Music is life.

MMovie time ๐ŸŽฌ and meditate ๐Ÿ™

There are SO many amazing, beautiful and inspiring movies to watch. You can use Netflix, Kodi, Disney+โœจor any other channel you use to watch movies. I’m so happy with the Google Chromecast which we got from my brother. I’m watching loads of movies with my mother and also Spanish series. I also love to do meditation. I do it every day now with the meditation sessions of Yoga girl.

N – Paint your nails ๐Ÿ’…

I always love to pain my nails even though I’m not a professional at all haha. I love to paint them in the colours I feel. During the Summer months I often use more bright colours such as blue, violet and purple than during the Winter months. During Christmas I love to use glitter nail polish.

OOffer some help to someone who needs it ๐Ÿ™

Be of service and offer some help to those who need it. Maybe you can help some elderly with doing groceries. Maybe you can call someone who is having a hard time right now. Listen to people and be there for them like you want the same for yourself too. We are all in this together. It’s time to all help each other.

PPainting ๐ŸŽจ, listening to some podcasts ๐Ÿ‘‚ and penpalling ๐Ÿ’Œ

I loved to paint when I was younger. I would love to pick that up someday as well. It’s good to let ourselves have fun and letting our inner child out while painting. I also love to listen to podcasts. The one I listen to is the one of Yoga Girl, my biggest inspiration in life ๐Ÿ˜. You can find her podcasts on Spotify. There are so many good podcasts out there. I also love to penpal as you guys know. Penpalling is writing handwritten letters to friends all over the world while sending them nice crafts, stickers, things you make, sticky notes, washi tape or anything nice.

QQuilting ๐Ÿงถ

I have seen people doing quilting on my social media. It wouldn’t be something for me because I think I wouldn’t be patient enough but it would be a nice hobby to do during this time.

RReading ๐Ÿ“š

Of course reading has to be on this list! I love to read. I’m currently reading a poetry book mental health related. I can’t wait to read more unread books I have at home. I also have more in Spain but unfortunately I’m not there right now. You will see a review soon of some amazing books I’ve read.

SSleeping ๐Ÿ˜ด and watching series ๐Ÿ“บ

Sleeping for me is even more important than eating. If I don’t sleep well I feel more anxious and just generally bad. It’s time to rest now and sleep more. We need it. Also, you can never fail with watching some nice series. My favourite Spanish series are Amar es para siempre, Luimelia and Cuรฉntame cรณmo pasรณ and of course Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl. Now is the time to watch your favourite serie!

TTidying up the Marie Kondo way ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ and drinking a delicious tea ๐Ÿต

Marie Kondo is the famous Japanese cleaning consultant. She knows how to organize stuff at home. It’s beautiful to watch. I have to watch her series and read her book. I also have to take action on it as I’m so lazy to organizing things. I’m so attached to stuff and find it hard to do clothes away. It would be nice to declutter and only have things in my closet which sparks me joy. Also, drinking tea is always a nice way to calm yourself down and just enjoy the moment. My favourite tea is Yogi Tea.

U – Play ukulele ๐ŸŽธ

I wish to be able to play guitar or ukulele. It would be nice to sing along while playing. Make some time for it if you have one at home.

V – Plant some vegetables ๐ŸŒฑ

This weekend it’s going to be a sunny weekend with almost 20 degrees here ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ˜Ž. I really want to start to plant some flowers in my garden. Planting some vegetables would be nice too. Many people are gardening now as it’s the time to do it. It’s nice to be back to the basics like planting a seed and watching it grow.

W Walking ๐Ÿšถ and writing ๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ

I’m happy we are still alowed to go for a walk in nature where there are not many people around. I love to walk in the park with my mother. There is so much space to walk around. There are also beautiful fields of sheeps and cows. Fresh air is so good for our health especially our mental health. We need vitamine D too ๐ŸŒž. I also love of course to write. Writing is the best thing ever. I’m writing a lot for my blog and I also am thinking of joining an essay competition. You have to write about climate change and could win a trip to Barcelona in September. It would be SO amazing! ๐Ÿ˜ I already won in 2015 an essay competition and spoke at the United Nations. These contests make me so happy and inspired. I have to give myself more credits of being a great writer.

X – Watching Xoxo Gossip Girl ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ’‹

Watching Gossip Girl is always an amazing plan! I have watched all seasons but I never get bored of watching them again. One of the best series ever. I love the parties, Serena and Blair, their dresses and just everything. I can’t believe that in 2015 I’ve been to New York City ๐Ÿ—ฝ. It was a dream came true when I won that essay contest. It has always been on my bucketlist.

Y – Do yoga ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ

I’m doing yoga every damn day now and it’s been so beautiful to practice 30 days for this challenge called #30daysofspace by Yoga Girl. The classes are for free. You can find them here. You only have to make a free account. I wish to have money to upgrade my account afterwards. I also practice yoga for free with Adriene on Youtube. Yoga is just so good for our health. My mental health is better when I practice and it’s also good for my back pain.

ZZzzz ๐Ÿ’ค

Take a nap whenever you need it. In Spain this is called siesta time haha ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ˜‚. We need that rest. You don’t have to feel guilty for needing to rest. The world has paused. I never like those people who are rushing through life and who always say they are busy. That’s not enjoying life. Rest is our birth right. That’s mother earth her biggest lesson for us.

Thank you all for reading this fun post. I hope all liked it. What are you doing from my list? What would you like to try? Any more suggestions? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love ๐Ÿ’•,

xoxo Christina

The 50 bookish questions book tag ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’ซโœจ๐Ÿ“–

Hey lovelies ๐Ÿ’•,

This is going to be a different blog post then what I normally do as I have never done this before. I searched for a book tag on here and I came across some nice questions about books. I found the 50 bookish questions on this blog post. I really like reading and want to read more. I keep buying books but I’m a slow reader so it doesn’t work that well I guess haha. I hope you will like this tag. I’m sure there are more book lovers out there ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ“–. I already know some of my lovely blogging friends who love to read too. This is for all of you. I hope you will like it.

1.) What was the last book you read?

To love and let go: A memoir of love, loss and gratitude by Rachel Brathen (Yoga Girl).

2). Was it a good one?

YEAHHH OMG IT WAS AMAZING. ONE OF MY FAV BOOKS EVER ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ญ. I cried so much.

3.) What made it good?

I don’t want to say a lot about it because I want to dedicate one blog post reviewing this book because it was so beautiful. It needs it’s own post. It was such a beautiful book because it was so raw, vulnerable and emotional. It was the real life story of Rachel about love, loss and gratitude. I love that in the hardships of life she finds gratitude. She just wrote this book from her heart. I wish to meet her one day and go on a retreat. I’m really amazed how good she can write about her experiences in life.

4.) Would you recommend it to other people?

Yes of course! This book will heal your heart whether you are going through grief or any other struggle in life.

5.) How often do you read?

A few days in a week. I just read sometimes. If I would have a busier life I would maybe have less time to read but I would still read.

6.) Do you like to read?

Yeahhh!

7.) What was the last bad book you read?

I think that must be The big sleep by Raymond Chandler.

8.) What made you dislike it?

I read this book years ago during high school. It was boring and I don’t like those detective stories. I also had to read it for school and when I have to do something I often don’t like it that much ๐Ÿ˜‚.

9.) Do you wish to be a writer?

YEAH OMGGG MY DREAM ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’–. I already consider my a writer because I own this blog but I would love to write books especially some poetry books. I hope to make this dream come true one day. If anyone has tips for publishing your own books and how things work I would love to know that.

10.) Has any book ever influenced you greatly?

Yes of course. You learn so much from books. The books which had the most influence on me are The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and To love and let go by Rachel Brathen. These are two beautiful books which tell a honest and beautiful story.

11.) Do you read fan-fiction?

No, I’ve never read fan-fiction.

12.) Do you write fan-fiction?

Nope and to be honest I also don’t think I’m that interested in this.

13.) What is your favourite book?

I have some favourite books which are Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, To love and let go by Rachel Brathen and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. These are my three favourite books ever ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ™.

14.) What is your least favourite book?

I don’t know. Maybe one I had to read during high school which is called The big sleep. I just didn’t like that story.

15.) Do you prefer physical books or ready on a device (like Kindle)?

16.) When did you learn to read?

I think when I began to go to school so when I was 4/5 years old.

17.) What is your favourite book you had to read in school?

I had to read The Kite Runner during high school. I loved it. This story was so touching, heartbreaking and everything.

20.) What is your favourite genre?

Young Adult always ๐Ÿ’–.

21.) Who is your favourite character in a book series?

I really like Evie from the book Am I normal yet as I can relate so much with her thoughts about anxiety. I don’t have OCD but as I struggle from anxiety I can also make myself go crazy with so many things in my mind which aren’t even going to come true. It’s so exhausting. This book made me feel less alone.

22.) Has a book ever transported you somewhere else?

Yes, books always transport me to beautiful places and countries. I love to imagine myself in the stories and think about what would I do faced in a certain situation.

I don’t know. I only know that when I watched Everything, Everything I thought that some things were a bit different than in the book. I thought it could have been better.

28.) Which movie has done a book justice?

The Fault in Our Stars was such a beautiful movie and was just like the book. It’s my fav book and movie ever. I cried, laughed and just had all the feels. I also loved the movie The Kite Runner but sometimes it was a bit hard to watch because of the things which were showed. I can’t deal with hard stuff as being a highly sensitive person. I also love the Harry Potter movies but I have to admit that I never read the books, just one. Maybe one day I will have to do that haha.

29.) Do you read newspapers?

Not that much. Sometimes I read it for the wheather, horoscope or some news which interests me such as Eurovision or news about feminism.

30.) Do you read magazines?

I love to read magazines especially the ones I buy in The Netherlands which are Flow and Psychology magazine. Flow is about mindfullness, slow life and being present. It comes with stationery and beautiful insights. I also shared in this blog post that I got some magazines of Flow for Sinterklaas. I also love Psychology magazine because it’s about mental health. I love to read about people who also suffer from anxiety because it makes me feel less alone ๐Ÿ™โœจ. I love to read about some tips how to go through it. It’s an inspiring and interesting magazine. For the rest I also sometimes like The Cosmopolitan which I buy in Spain. I like to buy it in the Summer for holidays on the beach. No normally not. Just sometimes it happens that when I really love a book it can take me two weeks to read it.

37.) Are you a slow reader?

YES. I can take some months to read a book haha. I just want to enjoy it and not rush everything. I also want to really be present with what I’m reading and think about the story.

38.) Where is your favourite place to read?

In my bed, on the beach ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒž (fav place ever) because it’s so calming to hear the waves crashing down the shore, and I also love to read in the garden in The Netherlands. I can’t wait for those days again in the sunshine. I need it.

39.) Is it hard for you to concentrate when you read?

Yes, so that’s why I prefer to read in a silent room, at the beach or at the swimming pool. I can easily get distracted by sounds.

40.) Do you need a room to be silent while you read?

Always otherwise I can’t read.

41.) Who gave you your love for reading?

I think maybe my father because he reads a lot, also writes books as he was a teacher of teology. He also used to tell me stories about witches and other fantasies before bedtime when I was little. He made them all up and it was incredible. My daddy has so much imagination haha. I find it fascinating to be honest.

Right now I’m reading Looking for Alaska by John Green. Next, I think I want to read the poetry book about mental health of my friend Andrew from Instagram.

I don’t know, maybe I was 8 years old.

44.) Who is your favourite childrenโ€™s book author?

I really love the Dutch autors Jacques Vriens and Francine Oomen. I always loved to read these children books.

45.) Which author would you most want to interview?

I would love to interview John Green because I think he is such an interesting person and knows about mental health illnesses such as anxiety and depression. His books are amazing so I think it would be amazing to talk to him. He has such a beautiful inner world.

46.) Which author do you think you would be friends with?

Holly Bourne and Rachel Brathen! I love them both so much ๐Ÿ˜. Holly Bourne writes amazing books about mental health, feminism and friendship. I also love Rachel Brathen, Yoga Girl, so much. She’s my biggest inspiration in life so I think we would get along so well with. I would feel at peace when I met her one day and could talk about my struggles and just everything in life. I love her honesty and vulnerability so much.

47.) What book have you reread the most?

I’m a slow reader so to be honest I didn’t have reread a book. I only can think of maybe a Dutch book serie called The five which I read loads of books from. It was always so interesting to read. It was about children who have amazing adventures together.

48.) Which books do you consider โ€œclassics?โ€

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I have to read the first two because I heard good reviews about them. The last one I’ve already read and a review is coming soon.

49.) Which books do you think should be taught in every school?

I think The Fault in Our Stars because it tells such a vulnerable and beautiful story about a girl and a boy with cancer which fall in love with each other. It’s a beautiful and touching story. You learn so much about life and the world with this book. I also think the Spinster Club Series books from Holly Bourne would be really great because it’s about feminism, friendship and mental health. Those are all important topics to talk about and learn about through books.

50.) Which books should be banned from all schools?

Books are amazing but I’m in favor of banning books which cause hate such as books of homophobia, racism and anything. If it wouldn’t benefit a person and would cause harm then it should be banned at school.

Thank you all for reading this blog post โ˜บ๏ธ. I hope you liked this book tag with loads of questions about books and reading. Can you relate to some of my answers? What kind of books do you love to read? What are your favourite books/writers? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love ๐Ÿ’•,

xoxo Christina

December 2019 favourites ๐ŸŽ„โœจ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’ž

Hey lovelies ๐Ÿ’•,

This blog post is maybe a bit too late lol but that doesn’t matter, right? ๐Ÿ˜‚ I’m always too late for everything in life. I’m better from my wisdom teeth extraction which was two weeks ago. I still sometimes felt strange things in my mouth but I have to stop obsessing otherwise I get even more anxious about it. I’m in Holland again. The next time I’m in Spain I will get rid of another wisdom teeth ๐Ÿฆท until I have no teeth left haha no just kidding. I have to do it three times more. I can do it. Hopefully I will have less anxiety for the next times. I trust this dentist so all will be well ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ™. Now, I have a cold too but I guess it’s that time of the year. I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and I hope this new year begin well for you all. In this blog post I will share my favourites of December which are celebrating Christmas with my family, going to the Christmas market, getting nice presents, winning some things and so much more.

Things I did with my lovely family ๐Ÿ‘ช:

Celebrating Sinterklaas with the family ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ

I celebrated the Dutch feast Sinterklaas the 6th of December. It was a nice celebration and I got loads of amazing presents. I wrote a Sinterklaas haul post which can find here. I loved the yoga mat, Flow magazines and the loads of chocolate I got ๐Ÿ˜. I still have chocolate at home from this celebration hahaha ๐Ÿ˜‚. Does anyone of you wants some chocolate? ๐Ÿซ It’s still good until March or April. I always love to celebrate Sinterklaas with the family. It’s such a nice tradition.

My parents 43th wedding anniversary ๐Ÿ’’๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’

My parents had their 43th wedding anniversary the 23th of December. We didn’t do anything special besides that they went to church and I stayed home. I was already going to church on Christmas Eve. When they had their 40th anniversary we ate all together but maybe with the 45th anniversary we will do something with the family. It’s a special day which remind me that true love exists. I love my parents so much and I wish them many more years together full of health, love and happiness ๐Ÿ’ž.

Watching some Christmas movies with mama ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽฌ

I love to watch Christmas movies. I’m sad this Christmas we didn’t watch Love Actually. We were busy packing for Spain too so at the end we didn’t watch it. Maybe, I will watch it now haha that movie is my fav movie ever. We watched Elf, The Polar Express and The Holiday. I love The Holiday so much. It’s also one of my favourite movies. I wish my life could be like that too and I could meet the love of my life that way haha. That English cottage is just so cute. I love all the actresses and actors. So beautiful. I also loved the movie Elf as I had never watched it before. It’s really cute! The Polar Express is also a classic. I think I’ve read the book when I was younger too.

Christmas time with the family ๐ŸŽ„

We had an amazing Christmas with the family. I went to church โ›ช on Christmas Eve with my mother, brother and his wife. It was lovely. We went to their appartment on Christmas day and just relaxed. We ate dinner all together on boxing day. It’s always so nice when we are all together especially when my little niece who’s 4 year old comes. It’s play time haha! ๐Ÿ˜‚ We had a delicious meal of some meat, stewed pears which my mother made and delicious fruit and ice cream ๐Ÿจ. My daddy always love to put whipped cream into the mouth of my niece haha she loves it very much. Spending time with family is one of the most important things in life. You never know when will be the last time you seen them, so do it and love them very much. I don’t want to sound depressing but it’s the truth. Nothing is forever so we have to not take these things for granted ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’–.

New Year’s Eve in Spain ๐ŸŽ‰โœจ๐ŸŽ†

My mother and I celebrated New Year’s Eve in Spain with the family of Verรณnica. We had a nice time with the brother and her mother. We ate some delicious meat like chorizo, jamรณn serrano. There was also bread and different sauces like avocado and cheese sauce. We also drank some champagne which I don’t like that much. I loved the Spanish cookies more. Afterwards, me and the brother of Verรณnica played Mario Kart Deluxe and Super Mario with the Nintendo Switch ๐ŸŽฎ. I really loved it so much and I got nostalgic from the times I played it when I was little. Those were one of my favourites games. My favourite game ever was Super Mario 64 with the different worlds and rooms. Such an awesome game. Also The Sims is amazing.

Stationery shopping ๐Ÿ›’

I went stationery shopping with my mother earlier in December. Action is my favourite shop in Holland. It’s cheap and has so many nice stationery. I bought some foam stickers. I love those stickers because they are bold and have an amazing design. The design is made for a hippie girl like me with lovely feathers, dreamcatchers, beautiful colours and quotes. I also love the sticker sheets I bought which contains 28 sheets full of stickers with a mermaid design ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿงœโ€โ™€๏ธ. It’s so beautiful. Anything with a sea theme is always made for me. You could also use these stickers for bullet journals. For the rest I also bought some nice rhinestones. They look like pearls. I also love the gluemarkers which I bought but I still didn’t have use them. I hope it works. You could put some glue on a paper, then add glitter and it would be amazing to decorate cards for my pen pals with it.

Awesome things I did with my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’ž:

Christmas market in Haarlem ๐ŸŽ„

I went to the Christmas market in Haarlem with my best friend and her girlfriend. We had such a good time. I always love to go because these Christmas markets are really special in The Netherlands and in Germany too. I love to drink hot chocolate or gluhwein โ˜•. This time I didn’t drink anything. I only bought something to make hot chocolate with. We made some nice pictures with the Christmas tree and enjoyed the beautiful lights โœจ. All the things which are sold on this market are handmade which I love so much.

Winning the book (Un)limited by the mind by A.O.Ewen ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ“–

My lovely friend Andrew from Instagram always write such beautiful poetry. He wrote a book and I took part of the giveaway. I never win something from Instagram so this was really a big surprise. I was so happy to have won this book because it’s beautiful ๐Ÿ˜. I still have to finish it reading. I already read some poems and I loved it. I love his honesty and vulnerability. It’s a collection of his poetry about experiences with mental health. He suffers from anxiety and ocd. I can relate so much to his poems and feel less alone when I read it. It’s good that he wrote about the light and the darkness because that makes me feel hopeful that things always can change for the better. I wish also to write a book one day because it’s one of my dreams. Thank you Andrew for your Christmas card too and for our friendship. I also love what you wrote in the inside for me. I love you very much. I will always support you! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ™

Receiving Christmas cards and presents from my lovely friends ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ

I’m so happy with all the Christmas cards I got from my friends online and in real life. I love my blogging friends, my pen pals and family so much. I love to receive handwritten letters and Christmas cards so much. I also loved the Christmas presents I got from my pen pal Vikki which was a unicorn garden suncatcher and some cute key rings. I also loved the presents I got from Sophia so much. I loved the handmade jewelry, the nail polish ๐Ÿ’… (I used it for Christmas time yeahhh) and the turqoise wallet is beautiful. Also a big thanks to my lovely blogging friend Elsie for her beautiful presents. I loved the golden journal! I can use that to write some blogging ideas inside. I also love the cute pen and sweets. I’m so thankful for your friendship. Love you all! ๐Ÿ’ž

Other amazing things of this month ๐Ÿ’–:

This year I joined again the Self Love Advent Challenge by Melissa Wells. She’s a bestselling Hay House Author, Worldwide Speaker, and the UKโ€™s leading Eating Psychology Coach and Self Love Expert, dedicated to helping you completely transform the relationship you have with yourself, your body and your food. I really like her community and her challenges so much. Every day until Christmas I posted something on Instagram and on her Facebook group for this challenge. One day it was about treating ourselves, another day it was doing self care and more. I’m happy to announce that for the first time I won something from participating in this challenge. OMGGGG asdfghjkl I won an amazing prize ๐Ÿ†. I won The Goddess Collective Scholarschip which is such a big prize. It has the value of more than โ‚ฌ550 for a year. This was definitely the best Christmas present ever ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ.

I’m so happy to form part of this beautiful community with all amazing goddesses โœจ๐Ÿ’— I will learn so much about goal and intention setting. There are also workshops about creativity, managing anxiety, female friendships, menstrual magic, finding your purpose, starting a business and so much more. I’m so blessed to have this opportunity. Thank you Melissa for being such an inspiration to do so much good in this world. Thank you for this beautiful community. We are all loved and not alone ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ™ Love you all! ๐Ÿ˜˜

New books ๐Ÿ“š

I bought two new books which are Looking for Alaska by John Green and The Places I’ve cried in public by Holly Bourne. I’ve heard always so many good reviews about Looking for Alaska so I’m happy to finally been reading this book. John green is an amazing writer. My other favourite writer is Holly Bourne and I couldn’t wait to buy her new book. I still have to read so many books of her. This book is about Amelie who loved Reese. And she thought he loved her. But sheโ€™s starting to realise love isnโ€™t supposed to hurt like this. So now sheโ€™s retracing their story and untangling what happened by revisiting all the places he made her cry. Maybe she can get over him if that way. I think it will be an interesting and heartbreaking story. I can’t wait to read it!

Enjoying a relaxing bath with Lush bath bomb ๐Ÿ›€

I enjoyed a nice bath with an awesome Lush bath bomb. It was called Goddess which reminds me of the song God is a woman from Ariana Grande. The bath bomb is heavenly scent, jasmine absolute seduces you into lilac and silver waters, while the darkness of oudh and the richness of sandalwood keep you there, lingering a little longer. Lila is my favourite colour and I love glitter so it was just a perfect bath time โœจ๐Ÿ’–.

Thank you all for reading this blog post. I hope you all enjoyed reading about my favourites of December 2019. Byebye 2019 haha. What were your favourites from my post? Did you have a nice Christmas time with your family? Have you read any of the books I bought? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love ๐Ÿ’•,

xoxo Christina

October favourites ๐Ÿ

Hola lovelies ๐Ÿ’•,

It’s already time for October favourites. This year is almost over. It always scares me how fast time is going because I always feel like I’m not living the life I want. It makes me anxious. I’m glad that at least I enjoyed some nice things in October such as going to the swimming pool with my brother, mother and lovely niece, having fun with my best friend, buying Christmas cards and receiving the book “To love and let go” ๐Ÿ’—.

Things I did with my family ๐Ÿ‘ช:

Going to the swimming pool ๐ŸŠ

I went to the swimming pool with my brother, mother and my little niece who’s right now 4 years old ๐Ÿ‘ง. I have always loved this swimming pool so much. I love the slide which is 60m. It has a side where you can go a bit outside. There are also jacuzzis and there’s another big swimming pool. Swimming is just the best thing ever ๐ŸŠ It always makes me feel so relaxed, inspired and happy afterwards. I want to go more often. Doing sports is so good for our physical and mental health. I went down the slide with my niece alone and we had loads of fun.

I even made a friend after swimming which was a girl from Syria ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡พ. I love to meet people from other countries, religions or nationalities. I believe that the diversity of the world is what makes this world a beautiful place to live in ๐ŸŒ. Hearing her talk made me emotional. I also talked about the war which is going on there. I find it hard to talk about it because I can definitely feel how hard it must be to leave your country and live in another one where you don’t speak the language. In two years she learned Dutch, has her driving license, just got her swimming diploma and is studying. This made me feel bad too because sometimes I take too many things for granted in life such as my home, my freedom, food, water and all the things we have and so many others in this world don’t have.

Having delicious fondue with the family ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

I had a delicious night of fondue with my brother, his wife and my parents the weekend before me and my mother were off to Spain. We ate delicious food such as potatoes with different sauces and vanilla ice cream with fruits ๐Ÿ˜‹. It’s always a tradition to have fondue like you can read in my posts.

Buying Sinterklaas presents ๐ŸŽ

I bought presents for the feast Sinterklaas which we celebrate the 6th of December with my family. The official date of this feast is the 5th of December. It’s a celebration like Santa Claus ๐ŸŽ‰. They say he comes from Spain to deliver presents. I wanted to buy almost all presents because I will spend most of November in Spain. Some Dutch families make surprises but we just buy presents for each other. I love to give and receive presents! I already wrapped all presents too.

Making a wish list for Sinterklaas ๐Ÿ“ƒ

I love to make lists and especially wish lists haha ๐Ÿ’–. I always make them for Sinterklaas, Christmas, The Three Kings Day and my birthday. I just update them every now and then. This year I ask for loads of nice books such as from Holly Bourne, of course nice stationery, yogi tea, book paper lovers from Flow and the calendar from Flow. Flow is such a nice Dutch magazine which makes loads of amazing and creative stuff. I also always want an advent calendar. I love to eat a chocolate ๐Ÿซ a day until Christmas.

Autumn in the park ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿƒ

I enjoyed a nice walk in the park with my mother. I’m a Summer girl but I love the beautiful leaves in Autumn. The park was beautiful and we made some nice pictures. Afterwards, we went to the restaurant in the park and drank a delicious mint tea ๐Ÿต with some cookies ๐Ÿช.

Trip to Spain โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ

I’m in Spain right now since a week. I’m always happy to be in Spain but I also know that my body stays with me wherever I go so I have anxiety also wherever I go. I used to think that if I travel somewhere else, I would feel better. There’s some sunshine here which makes life a bit better. I’m also happy to see my friends in Spain, eat delicious food and have fun. I also know that I still have to go to the dentist which makes me so anxious but I hope to overcome this fear soon. To be honest, I’m struggling a lot with anxiety now ๐Ÿ˜ข.

Buying Christmas cards ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ…

I already bought Christmas stuff such as washi tape, a silver and golden pen, stickers and Christmas cards because I want to begin writing Christmas cards in Spain. Maybe I’m also sending them from Spain. It’s better to do it earlier because otherwise I get stressed as December is always a busy month. It’s better to have it done already because this year I will write 30 cards, every year less than the year before because not everyone writes me back. I love to write them but the fun is also to get a card back ๐Ÿ’Œ.

Buying new stationery and bath products ๐Ÿ›€

When I went one day to the shopping mall near to my house with my mamita I bought loads of nice stationery. I bought a set of 20 cards with different designs. I love the blue, pink and purple colours and the quotes on it ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ. I also bought new washi tapes. I bought loads of bath products too which includes a blue mermaid bath bomb and bath salt with mixed flower petals and grapefruit scent. For the trip to Spain I bought nail polish remover pads ๐Ÿ’…, coconut body cream which I love so much as it smells so good, my favourite dry shampoo Batiste cherry and eye make-up remover oil pads from the Hema.

Things I did with my lovely friends ๐Ÿ’–:

Eating delicious food with my bestie

I’m so happy I saw my bestie again after 4 months twice. It’s always good to see my best friend ๐Ÿ˜ I loved eating at Bagels and Beans as it’s one of my fav places. I had such a delicious bagel with avocado, salad, tomato, cheese and drank a mint tea. It doesn’t matter how long we don’t see each other because our friendship never changes. You know when the friendship is real, deep and honest when everything stays the same when you see each other again after a long time. I’m so so so thankful to have you in my life. I will be always there for you. Even writing this makes me emotional. We are both a highly sensitive person forever haha ๐Ÿ’— Thank you for guiding me through life. Thank you for being the light ๐Ÿ’ก in the dark times. Thank you for being my best friend who is always there for me when I need it. Thank you for our real talks about politics, mental health, feminism, life, death, music, books, and just anything.

We all need a little help from our friends and it’s just so true. Being surrounded by good people make you feel less alone in your struggles. The moment I share something and I hear you or another loved one say me too I feel a bit better. We are never alone. We are all walking this life together. As long as I have you by my side I will be okay. 11 year friends. Forever besties. I love you so much, to infinity and beyond, to the moon and back ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒœ๐ŸŒ›๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ•

The second time we saw each other we went to La Place in the shop Hudson Bay which is a restaurant where you can see whole Haarlem. We ate a delicious tomato soup ๐Ÿœ with some cheese. We had some good talks, laughed a lot and afterwards we did some shopping. I bought some nice cards with quotes and some stickers. I’m going to miss this shop when it’s going away only for the stationery hahah. We also went to see her brother, his wife and parents because they were celebrating her brother’s birthday ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‰. I loved to see them all as I’m just one of the family. It’s nice to feel so connected and so loved.

Receiving beautiful pen pal letters ๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ

I received some beautiful mail from my lovely pen pals. I received beautiful mail from Sophia which inluded some awesome unicorn writing paper and envelopes. I also loved your notes and stickers. The letter from Mollie was also amazing. I loved the goodies especially the whale card and the sticky notes. Thank you Vikki for your amazing mail too. I loved the friendship card, the other cards with quotes, the unicorn key ring and the feather sticky notes. I love all my pen pals so much. Writing is healing and makes me so happy ๐Ÿ˜.

Other amazing things of October ๐Ÿ:

Receiving the book “To love and let go” by Rachel Brathen ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’ž

I finally received the book “To love and let go” by Yoga Girl. She’s my biggest inspiration in life ๐Ÿ˜. I also wrote about her and her book in this post. I’m in the middle of this book and I already cried so much. It’s so heartbreaking, so beautiful and so real. In this book she wrote about how she lost her best friend, the divorce she suffered from her parents and the suicide attempts from her mother. She writes about loss, gratitude and love. This book is one of my favourite books ever now. I can’t wait to meet Rachel one day and go on a yoga retreat. Thank you so much for being the light in this sometimes dark world ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒโœจ. We need it. I’m so thankful for the Yoga Girl community where I met so many amazing people which I also hope to meet soon. It’s so important to hold space for others to feel our feelings. That’s exactly what this book is about. Feel our feelings, the good and the bad. Go through the dark times in life and eventually you will find the light.

Blas Cantรณ is going to represent Spain for Eurovision Song Contest 2020 ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

I was very happy to hear that Blas Cantรณ is going to represent Spain in Eurovision in Rotterdam, The Netherlands next year. I hope to be able to see it live because it cost a lot of money but it’s been 44 years that Eurovision comes to The Netherlands. It’s a one in a lifetime experience ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ. It would be great to see Spain winning in The Netherlands haha. Blas Cantรณ is a very popular singer here and famous for his song “ร‰l no soy no”. His voice is beautiful and I’m sure he will do really good in Eurovision.

Thank you all for reading this blog post. I hope you all liked it. What kinds of fun things did you do in October? What are your favourites from my post? Did you like the new stationery I bought? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love ๐Ÿ’•,

xoxo Christina

My first book haul ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’ž

Hey lovelies ๐Ÿ’• ,

I’m excited to share a new kind of blog post on my blog which is a book haul. I bought some awesome books this month ๐Ÿ“š. I still have so many books unread at home but you can never buy enough books, right?! ๐Ÿ˜‚. I’m happy I’m enjoying reading again as it’s so good for our mental health and you learn so much about life and this world from reading. I bought 4 books from Book Depository. I loved this website so much because there are no shipping costs ๐Ÿ˜. I almost buy all books on that website.

Everything, Everything – Nicola Yoon

I wanted to read this book for so long now as I saw many bloggers reading this book. I was pretty excited to read it. I almost finished this book in two weeks and never read so fast. I will make a review about it soon. The book is about a girl called Maddy who’s sick and has not left her house in seventeen years. Olly is the boy who is living next door and is determined to find a way to reach her. This love story is so beautiful and is all about the crazy risks we take for love ๐Ÿ’—. Besides, there is also a movie about this book which I can’t wait to watch as soon as I finish reading this book.

The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald

This is a classic book which so many people have read and was always on my list of books I wanted to read. I finally bought it. It was also very cheap. This book is about the “roaring twenties” and a devasting exposรฉ of the “Jazz Age.” I think this will be an interesting book to read. I’m always reading young adult books so to read something different will be nice too. At least, I hope so hahah ๐Ÿ˜‚. They say that The Great Gatsby is an undisputed classic of American literature from the period following the First World War and is one of the greatest novels of the twentieth century. I hope this book will be as good or even better as the movie I watched.

All the Bright Places – Jennifer Niven

When I was reading a few blog posts and comments from one of my favourite bloggers and friends Chloe I just knew that I had to buy this amazing book. In many blog posts she mentioned that this is her favourite book โค๏ธ. I also know that it’s a sad story and I’m afraid it will break my heart too. I don’t know if I just can read it when I want or have to wait for that moment when I feel good to read it. This book is about Finch and Violet. Finch wants to take his own life and Violet is devasted by her sister’s death. They meet on the ledge of the school bell tower, and so their story begins. I can’t wait to read it and I guess it will also break my heart ๐Ÿ’”. I have read so many good reviews without spoilers about this book. They even say it’s the next The Fault in Our Stars which is my favourite book ever. There’s also a movie coming up in 2019 so hopefully before the movie is there I have read it.

Call Me by Your Name – Andrรฉ Aciman

I’ve seen this book everywhere and I’ve also seen the annouchments of the movie in so many places. I have never watched the movie or have read the book. This book was on sale too so I had to buy it together with the other three books. The story is about Elio who’s 17 years old and falls in love with his father’s house guest, Oliver on the Italian Riviera. It’s a book about fear, love and a coming-out story. I’m happy to read this book as I always read books about a girl falling in love with a boy but I also love to read other stories like two boys or two girls falling in love with each other. Love is love and there has to be many more books of the LGBT+ community ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ as well.

Thank you all for reading this blog post. I hope you all liked it. Did you read any of these books? Which book would you read of my haul? Which one is your favourite and why? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love ๐Ÿ’•,

xoxo Christina
