July favourites πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΈπŸŒŠ

Hey lovelies πŸ’•,

I’m really behind some blog posts like my favourites and music reviews which I do every month. I don’t want to feel like blogging is chore because otherwise it ain’t no fun anymore. It just makes me frustrated at times. I still want to keep this series going but not if I get frustrated of not writing it one month. It doesn’t matter right?! It’s okay to write it whenever I feel the passion for it. Let’s move on to my favourites of July. It was a beautiful month πŸ’•. It seems SO long time ago when it’s just two months ago. I experienced beautiful things such as finally going to Spain, beach days in The Netherlands, had a lunch date with my bestie, bought a beautiful bikini from the surf brand Billabong and more I will share below.

Things I did with my lovely family πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦:

Celebrating the birthday of my brother and niece πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚πŸŽˆ

Finally after more than a half year I saw my brother and niece πŸ˜πŸŽ‰. We hadn’t seen them since Christmas time. They live in the South of The Netherlands. It’s almost two hours by car. Due to the pandemic we haven’t seen them which made me feel so sad. Of course we used video call a lot but it’s not the same. My brother’s birthday was on the 14th of July and my niece turned 5 years on the 16th of July. I bought my niece a snow ball to colour in the pages and some glitter stickers which she loves a lot (and me too!! haha!!). I bought my brother some stuff for the kitchen which he needed and Happy Socks 🧦 which he loves a lot. He was very happy with the presents. I missed them so much.

I wish my niece could stay always that little. She’s a lovely princess πŸ‘Έ. Sometimes I wish to be that little again because you see the world with different eyes. I loved how she whispered in my ears if we could go to my room and play. My room is a fair for her 🎑. It’s full of stuff and colours and cute items. Noanne also said that I’m so sweet. My heart melts with her sweet words. She said she would find shells on the beach and think of me. She learns me how to love myself on the moments when I feel I can’t love myself. I love to hear her talking about the universe, the sun 🌞, the moon 🌜, the stars ✨, dinosaurs and everything. They say you learn the most of children which is so true. Their beliefs aren’t shaped. The world is their playground. I truly believe and feel with all that’s happening in the world, we have to go back and find our inner child and play. I don’t mean ignoring the pain and suffering in the world. I just think it’s important to have a balance with that and to always be reminded that there’s still a child in us who would love to be free, wild and making their biggest dreams come true. We need to care about our inner child always. Love yourself just like a child does.

Travelling to Spain ✈️πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ

I’m SO happy to be back in Spain after 7 months. I’ve missed it so much. I’m happy to see my friends again. You can read about my trip with my mother HERE. I never want to go back to The Netherlands. I love Spain so much and really can’t wait to find work here and live here forever 😍. I love the people, the food, the sunshine every day and it’s such a beautiful country where you can enjoy mountains, beaches, desserts, forest and just anything. I was anxious to travel but everything went well. I hope that we can keep coming back because I don’t want again to wait so long to go back to Spain. I was also happy to see my friends from my studies at the station of Madrid. It was such a coincidence. I hope to see you guys soon.

Beach days in The Netherlands 🌊🌞

I finally went to the beach after almost one year. My heart was craving it so much. I missed my happy home, my paradise πŸ’ž. The sea heals everything. I’m forever a mermaid πŸ§œβ€β™€οΈ. One day I will live at the ocean and will never have to leave again. We went biking for 18 km. We ate delicious kibbeling, potatoes, salad and a swirl ice cream. It was delicious. Fortunately, it was only raining a bit and we could enjoy the sunshine. Pura vida! We also saw bambi in the dunes. So cute! So blessed with this beautiful world we live in. It’s the little things which mean the most in life. I loved seeing my dear friend from primary school and from my choir at the beach. I missed you so much! It’s been years since we saw each other. I hope to see each other soon again.

Golden hour at the beach πŸŒ…

I’m happy we finally went swimming in the sea. That day we ate a delicious salad at a beach restaurant. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the beach. It’s one of those beautiful moments you wish that last forever. So magical and pure πŸ₯°. My wild heart is full of freedom, love and happiness on the beach. The bad thing was that we biked 🚲 for 30 km long haha . On the way back home the bridge was broken so we had to go through whole Haarlem to go back home. Our home is surrounded by water so we really needed to through another bridge to come home lol. It was a beautiful and unforgettable day.

Enjoying ice creams πŸ¨πŸ˜‹

I enjoyed some delicious ice creams with my mother. I love the Italian ice creams near to where my brother lives. We always go by bike. I had one with mint chocolate chip ice cream and straciatella. My mother had one with lemon and whipped cream. It was all so delicious!

Watched The Beauty and the Beast, Grease and Up for love 🎬

I watched some nice movies with my mother. I loved The Beauty and the Beast so much. One of my favourite actresses is Emma Watson. She is the best! I cried watching this beautiful movie. I loved it so much. I also loved watching Grease on a Summer night in Holland. Grease is just such a feel good movie and perfect for the Summer. I love the songs so much. They make me SO happy. I watched with my parents Up for love too which is a movie about a man who is very little and falls in love with a woman. They make jokes about him because of his length. It’s a great movie which let us see that everyone deserve the right to live a good life and that people have to be more kind to each other and not judge anyone.

Things I did with my lovely friends πŸ’•:

Lunch date with my bestie along the river in Haarlem πŸ’ž

I had such a great day with my bestie in Haarlem. We basically ate and drank all day long hahaha. That’s why we are best friends 😍🍴. We had a delicious lunch at Ted’s place. We loved it so much. My bestie ate a portobello sandwich with hummus and spinach and I had a delicious vegan French toast with fruits, almond milk, cinnamon sugar and maple syrup. I also loved the fruit smoothie so much with acai, strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, banana and more. It was such a aesthetic place to eat. The sun was shining too which was perfect. I’m also happy I finally bought some Summer clothes. As dinner we ate at Freakin Vegan. We loved the burger, wrap and green tea. We ate the whole day vegan and I LOVED IT. I can’t wait to eat more vegan food because it’s better for the environment, good for your health and it’s delicious too πŸ˜‹.

Beautiful pen pal letters πŸ’Œ

I got some beautiful letters this month. I got one from Rosie which I loved so much. I loved the goodies too. I loved the quote card. I got a new pen pal friend too. I loved the post from Katherine. I also loved the mail from my lovely friend Chloe. The handmade card from sunshines is so cute and makes me SO happy!! I also love the moon card and the stickers. Thank you for being one of my best friends. I love you all so much.

Sharing circle with Yoga Girl πŸ’–βœ¨

I loved the first sharing circle I joined on Zoom. I was anxious to do it. It was the best thing ever. It’s so special and so sacred. Thank you Rachel and the whole Yoga Girl team for making this happen. I love this community so much. Together with more than 60 people we entered a safe space to share our feelings, thoughts and we hold space for each other. We listened and did meditation all together. It was SO pure, honest and beautiful I cried. Then we met our partner and talked about our struggles with them. One has to speak and the other has to stay silent. You think that’s easy but it isn’t. We are so tend to intreput each other and give each other advice. Rachel said we have the answers in our own heart. We always seek advice from others but we know ourselves the best. We have to listen more in life instead of talking. We need our hearts to hold space for us. I loved my sharing partner from Germany. It was an amazing talk. Thank you so much! I can’t wait to go to a yoga retreat in Aruba πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ό too. We are all walking each other home. Love you all! πŸ’–

Other amazing things of July πŸ’–:

New bikini from Billabong πŸ‘™

I finally got a new bikini!!! I really needed one because the ones I have are too big now. I think it’s because of washing them. I bought one online and thank God it fit perfectly. I love all the surf brands πŸ„β€β™€οΈ. Billabong is one of my favourites. I love the new bikini which is green, black together with sunflowers on it. I’m using it a lot this Summer. It costed €40 instead of €70 so big sale. I bought it on Zalando. I love this website.

New dresses and floral shorts πŸ‘—

I bought some nice clothes the day I went on a lunch with my bestie in H&M. I bought some nice floral shorts and a red dress. I didn’t had any Summer clothes in The Netherlands so I really needed to have some haha. I also bought a beautiful blue floral dress from Shein. I’m happy with my new clothes.

Virtual concert of Operación Triunfo 🎢

I saw a virtual concert of the Spanish talent show OperaciΓ³n Triunfo. It was from Madrid, WiZink Center. I loved it so much. I was also a virtual public there. They could see us from the stage. I danced a lot, sang and had lots of fun πŸ’ƒπŸŽ€. Of course, I miss going to concerts. I really can’t wait to go to a concert again because it has been more than a year since I last went to one. There’s nothing more precious than being in a concert and seeing your favourite artist live. It gives me so much happiness and makes me feel so alive!!

Thank you all for reading this blog post. I hope you liked it. Do you like my new bikini and new clothes? Do you like to eat vegan food? What did you do in July? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love πŸ’•,

xoxo Christina

Summer bucket list 2020 πŸŒžπŸŒŠπŸ„πŸŒ΄πŸ§πŸΉπŸΈπŸ’ƒ

Hey lovelies πŸ’•,

Before I share a birthday haul post which is a bit overdue hahah I want to share this blog post. I’m going to share again a Summer bucket list 🌞. I often write down 100 things in a journal but it isn’t all achievable of course. I will try to only point down the most important things. If you make a long list of things you want to do, you most likely will not do them all. It could maybe overwhelm you instead of having fun and doing them. This Summer I want to be happy and enjoy life while being safe and follow the safety measures of the pandemic. We all have to enjoy our Summer time but we also have to keep aware and know that the Coronavirus isn’t away. We still have to keep distance, wash our hands and be careful πŸ™. Let’s get started! πŸ’–

  • Fly to Spain ✈πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ

I can’t wait to go to Spain because we didn’t went there since Christmas time. I’m mostly always a bit anxious of travelling. I have to admit that I’m now more anxious to go because of all the things you have to do while travelling. You have to wear a mask in the airplane and during the travel day. I’m afraid to get really anxious or get a panic attack 😒. I of course agree with the safety measures. You also have to fill in a health paper to declare that you aren’t sick. They can check your temperature when you arrive at the airport. Travelling is not like we used to know it. I really want to go with my mother to Spain and enjoy our Summer there 🌞😍. I guess it’s okay we are anxious to travel. I just hope we won’t get sick. I also miss Spain so much so it would be so nice to finally be there. We maybe go at the end of July. I will keep you all updated how things will go.

  • Spend time with family & friends πŸ‘ͺπŸ‘

I miss seeing my family so much. I only see my parents and sometimes my brother and his wife from a distance. I miss seeing my almost 5 year old niece. Her birthday is in July just like the birthday of my brother Edward. I can’t wait to see my niece, Edward and Elke again. They hopefully will come to our house this month. We haven’t seen each other since Christmas 😭. I also miss my friends so much. Some friends I didn’t see for a half year, others for a year. I can’t wait to have amazing plans with them in The Netherlands and in Spain πŸ’–. I’m already going on a lunch with my bestie this month and will also go surfing with her πŸ„. My other friend from Irak is also coming to my house. I also can’t wait to celebrate my birthday in Spain with my lovely friends and eat delicious tapas all together. Spending time with your loved ones is the best thing you can do. Always be around people who are sunshine for you and not around people who drain you. They aren’t worth it.

  • Go to the beach 🌊🐚

This Summer as always I want to go to the beach many times 😍🌊. I already went twice to the beach in The Netherlands. It’s one hour away with the bike. I loved it so much even though the water here isn’t clear like in Spain haha. Beach time is what makes me the most happy. I’m a mermaid and beach girl forever. Summer isn’t good if I don’t go to the beach. The sea knows all my secrets and heals my heart. If we go to Spain, then I hope to go to the beach there too. The beach is there 3 hours away by train. It’s so beautiful in Santander. There’s also a little surf village which is called Somo near to Santander. I would love to go there again. I went there with my mother a few years ago.

  • Go surfing πŸ„

I can’t wait to go surfing again! 😍 I always do this on my Summer bucket list but didn’t go surfing since more than 4 years. I miss it so much. My best friend and I were about to go last Summer but it was bad weather so we didn’t go. This Summer we will definitely go surfing together. I can’t wait. Here there’s always wind so it’s a great beach to surf. Maybe I will go surfing too in Somo, in Spain. I would love to go again to a surf camp. You learn so much there. The surfing lifestyle is the best way to live life βœŒπŸ’–. Enjoying nature, being present and that feeling of being alive when you are out there in the ocean catching a wave. Hearing the waves crashing to the shore and tasting the salt air and sea all creates a sense of peace and freedom. We all need that in life.

  • Read books πŸ“š

I love reading books and I find the Summer months the best months to read πŸ“–. I love to read outside in our garden. I also love to read in the park or on the beach. I already read some books these months which I have to review soon. This Summer I would love to read at least 3 books if that’s possible. I don’t want to say more because I’m a slow reader and I don’t want to create unnecessary stress. We learn so much from reading. It’s lovely to read on a Summer day with a glass of lemonade or red wine. You drive away into paradise 🌴.

  • Make smoothies, aΓ§ai bowls & ice pops πŸ¦πŸπŸ“

I love to make fruit smoothies. I used to make them a lot and I really miss making them. I want to make a lot more these Summer. I also would love to make ice pops and aΓ§ai bowls because I never did that before. I love how it looks like. It must be delicious πŸ˜‹. I really want to try to make them and share it with you guys. Let me know if you ever tried to make this and which flavour was the most delicious one. All of these are so refreshing for a hot Summer day and also very healthy which is just a win-win haha.

  • Practice yoga in a studio or outside πŸ™

I do yoga almost every damn day now since March and it helps me so much with anxiety. I feel more at home in my body. I enjoy being spiritual too and just feel more in sync with life and mother nature. I do yoga with Yoga Girl, my biggest inspiration. I do it on her website. Every month I pay just €14 and I can do everything on there. The live classes with Yoga Girl are so amazing πŸ’–. I also do full moon πŸŒ•πŸŒœπŸŒ› ceremonies on there. Doing yoga at home is nice but I also would love to do it again in a studio or have a class outside. I only did that twice in my life. Sometimes I find myself being a bit anxious in a room because of feeling judged in a room full of people. I don’t like big groups. Hopefully I can overcome that and take a class in a studio in The Netherlands or in Spain. The connection you feel with others is so beautiful and so important too in a yoga practice. It makes you feel even more at one with this beautiful world we live in.

Doing yoga at home
  • Share singing covers 🎢

This was the only time I shared a singing cover on my blog. Hopefully I will be able to share more covers here and also on my Instagram 🎀. Sometimes I’m just a bit anxious to share it. I love singing but it always takes a lot of courage to film yourself and share it online because of the negative people out there. We just have to think that if someone says something bad about you, it says more about that person than about you. I will have to keep doing what I love because that makes me the most happy. I hope you guys will enjoy it when I’m ready to share it. I also sometimes thought about making a Youtube channel for singing covers but that makes a bit too anxious to do that now. Maybe in the future, who knows.

  • Spend time in nature 🌳🌹

Spending time in nature is a must during the warm months. I love it so much. I don’t like Winter so I enjoy being outside in Summer. I love to go to the park, enjoy our garden and go to the beach. I love to walk around and go biking 🚲 with my mother. Nature is so alive right now so we have to enjoy it. Spending time in nature also means soaking up the sunshine which is so important for our health too. The sun gives us energy, vitamin D and makes us happier. We need sun light 🌞. Don’t forget to always wear sunscreen.

  • Declutter my wardrobe πŸ‘—

Basically I have to organize my whole room and sort things out but let’s being with my wardrobe. I have to do it here and in Spain. I just never do it haha because I don’t like it. It’s been ages now and it really needs to get done πŸ™. I also have a hard time in letting clothes go. Some I will treasure and others I will have to donate or sell. I want to try the Marie Kondo way. I hope it works out this Summer. If you have some tips, please let me know.

  • Keep writing poems πŸ“

I will keep writing poetry in my journal. I hope to be able to share some of my poetry on here. I will also of course keep writing letters to my pen pals and write for my blog. I love to get inspiration from being on the beach or outside in my garden. Whenever I get inspiration ✨ I write it down because otherwise I forget it easily.

Poem about speaking up
  • Be happy, have fun and make the best of this Summer! 🌞🌈

On top of this list is just trying to make the best of this Summer. Hakuna matata ✌. Being happy and just enjoying Summer time on our own way is the most important thing. It’s important to take pressure away of having the best Summer ever because every Summer has its ups and downs like life. Summer is my favourite season ever. I’m a Summer and beach girl forever. I’m always SO happy when Summer arrives. In Spain the sun shines every day so I can’t wait to go there and have loads of fun.

Thank you all for reading this fun blog post. I hope you will all have an amazing Summer full of responsible adventure times 🌞✌. I hope you will all enjoy it with your family and friends. Make loads of memories. Be safe too. What are you going to this Summer? Are you staying at home or are you going to travel? What of my list are you going to do? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love πŸ’•,

xoxo Christina

5 surfers died doing what they loved to do the most in The North Sea πŸ˜’πŸ’”πŸ‡³πŸ‡±

Hey lovelies πŸ’•,

I wanted to write a more happy blog post but I just can’t. I have to always write what’s on my mind. Right now, I feel so much loss and I am so sad. I feel heartbroken πŸ’”. I cried this whole week SO much. I will talk about the tragedy which happened on Monday afternoon in the beach Scheveningen πŸŒŠπŸ‡³πŸ‡±πŸ˜’. 5 surfers died doing what they loved to do the most. I also wrote a poem abou it which I will let you see below. This is also my 200th post on my blog which I’m proud about but today’s blog post is something more important. Some people will maybe not understand me but I can grief so hard for people I don’t know. I’m a sensitive person and an empath. That’s how I live my life now and forever. I will not change that for anyone if you like it or not.

On Monday afternoon in Scheveningen at 7 o’clock a group of surfers came in problems. There was a strong wind and current. They didn’t surf near to the port because it’s more dangerous there. They know the sea so well because they were experienced and even life guards. They found the two bodies on Monday and the other two on Tuesday. They are still searching for the fifth body. Even the rescue team had problems in finding them. Some people were saved, a man who was 40 years old and other people. A friend of them was saved. They were all from the regio of The Hague. The ones who died were between 20 and 30 years old. It’s so heartbreaking that the sea took their lives. It was even on the news of the World Surf League which is the association of surfing professionals. They died suffocated in the foam. This is very strange because that doesn’t happen often. Now they will further investigate it. I hate when people say it’s their fault. I find it disrespectful when people say that. The rescue team in The Netherlands saved one person who also had a baby, a family together. That person was friends with the ones who died. I wouldn’t know how to cope when I know my best friends died but I got saved. I think it must be so heartbreaking.

I know surfing is sometimes a risky sport but surfers know that. I love surfing and even made my thesis about surfing for graduating college. I wrote about the surf brand O’Neill and the surfing lifestyle. I love to live that lifestyle like all surfers are living that. It means to enjoy the sea, having respect for nature, for the environment and for every living being. I’m a beginner surfer by heart. The sea is my home. I also surfed on the beach of Scheveningen many times. It makes me the most happy person ever. Even though I’m not good at catching waves yet, I have fun and feel the most alive on my surfboard. They died doing what they loved to do. I just don’t think there’s anything poetic about that because it must be a horrible death being drowned by the sea. I’m so sorry for them 😒. I think they suffered a lot and did all they could to be saved. Since I heard the news I couldn’t stop crying. I wrote a poem about what happened. It’s also on my poetry account on Instagram. I can’t think of anything else right now.

The wild sea

I love the sea

It’s my favourite place in the world

I love to hear the waves crashing to the shore

I love to smell the salty air

I love to feel the wind in my face

I love the taste of the salt sea

I love to see the waves

What I love the most of surving

Is the feeling of being alive

It makes me so happy

At the same time the sea scares me

Last night a tragedy happened in Scheveningen

5 experienced body surfers lost their lives

The wind & the big waves took their lives

How can nature be so cruel?

How can be something so beautiful at the same time kill people?

It’s mother nature at their wildest

I spent the day crying

I don’t know you but I feel the losses in my heart

Being an empath and highly sensitive person makes you grief people you don’t even know

I’m so sorry Joost, Sander, Pim, Max and Matthijs

The sea took your life

May you rest in peace

You were all too young

You died doing what you loved to do

We are mourning the losses

The sky is crying with you

You are all an inspiration for us

You will not forgotten

I send all my love to the friends and family

You are all loved

The surfing community will always be there for each other

We will stick together

Love you

A sea of words

I hope you all liked my poem. The picture is from someone on Instagram. I love to see sunsets on the beach. They are the most magical ever. I truly believe these heroes are somewhere there watching us from above. We will continue surfing remembering them. I just always have to write a poem when a tragedy happens, especially one so close to home. Scheveningen is a place I come often to surf, chill and enjoy the beach. It’s close to The Hague where I went to college to. I often celebrate my birthday at the surf school Hart Beach. These men were from another surf school but they were all surf teachers and know the sea very well. They know the dangers. The meters of foam happened suddenly when they were body surfing. I love the community of surfers so much. They are all so lovely and connected with each other. I have some friends who surfed with me but I would love to find more people who could surf with me. Sometimes I was also thinking to get a job in the surf industry. It would be so amazing! Caring about the environment, enjoying nature and loving the sea is everything I stand for in life. I know some of my studies live there and are also heartbroken about the news. Also one girl from my studies know some people who have died. She’s a professional surfer who surfed with them too.

It’s so sad that life can be over in just one second. We never know when will be the last day we are living. We never know when we will die. It terrifies me but at the same time it also makes me think that I want to live the life of my dreams. I would love to learn to be able to surf well and catch some good waves. It makes me feel alive, happy and feel less anxious. The sea cures everything but sometimes it’s a monster which takes people. I always have much respect for the sea. It’s mother nature at it’s wildest 🌊. We can learn how to surf the waves but we can’t go against the sea. The sea will always be stronger than us at the end. Nature will always be stronger than human beings and can destroy us whenever we least except it, thinking of natural disasters such as earthquakes or tsunami’s. We really have to care more about mother nature. It’s the most beautiful thing in the world and also sometimes the scariest thing ever 😒. We have absolutely no control of it.

Today, our hearts go out to the 5 families and friends of the people we lost in Scheveningen yesterday. The 5 surfers where body surfing and were experienced. They didn’t come home after their session. Even though I don’t know them I feel this loss so deeply. I am an empath and highly sensitive person and always feel everything so deeply. I don’t have to know someone personally to feel what others are going through. I can feel their feelings so deeply. This is the prize I take for feeling so much. I also suffer so much too. I don’t know how I would cope when someone I know dies. This is a black day for the Dutch surf community and we wish all who are involved the strength to deal with this loss πŸ˜’πŸŒŠπŸ™πŸ„πŸ‡³πŸ‡±. We are all mourning their losses. The sea is so wild and strong. It takes and gives. I am here for you all. Sending you all my love and strength πŸ’•πŸ™. I hope this poem made you feel less alone in mourning their grief.

Always when something like this happen I would love to help other people and be of service. I know I can’t make the death surfers come back into life. I wish that power would exist. If I lived near to Scheveningen I would bring flowers to the surf school. Everyone is doing that and they are griefing all together around the place where the tragedy happened. Maybe, I’m going to sent the surf school a card and flowers letting them know they aren’t alone in their pain. The families and friends need to grief right now and need their privacy. I also am going to donate money for the KNRM which is the The Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution. They are always rescuing people and it’s important to donate money even though you may not have much money. You can donate on this website: KNRM.

This is a beautiful poem I found on Instagram. It sounds better in Dutch of course but I loved it.

”If mermen really existed,
at home on the coast and could go as fishes through the water
then they were named surfers
and everyone in Scheveningen would know that
the sea belongs to them and they belong to the sea
her waves took the men forever with her.”

Thank you all for reading this heartbreaking but necessary blog post. It was my 200th blog post. I just had to write about this tragedy. What do you think of my poem? Are you a sea lover? Does the sea scares you? Does anything similiar happened in your country? Let me know lovelies. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love πŸ’•,

xoxo Christina

New year goals for 2019 βœ¨

Hey lovely bloggers πŸ’•,

It’s never too late to write some goals down for this new year. Hopefully with writing this post I will stick to them and it will motivate me to reach them. I don’t like that much the new year, new me thing because I still feel the same but it’s just a different year not that much changed hahah πŸ˜‚ I prefer to stick with goals that I want to achieve this year. I also think that working to achieve goals also gives you confidence and strength. Reaching a goal is awesome but I think the way to reach those goals is also important. In this blog post I will write about my main 10 new year goals for 2019 ✨. My goals are not in any ranking.

1) Cope better with anxiety πŸ™

This is for me such an important goal to reach. I don’t know if I ever will be anxiety free but learning how to cope with it is important in order to feel good. If I have to try therapy this year then I will have to do that even though I’m scared. If I have to try other medications for my anxiety disorder then that’s okay too. I also will keep reading good self help books 😊. Hopefully I can also sleep better and have a better sleep schedule. I also want to take some yoga lessons and keep swimming. Moving my body definitely release anxiety and makes me feel more calmer and happier.

2) Face my fears πŸ’ͺ

I really have to face my fears this year rather than running away from it, escaping or hiding myself all the time. It’s my comfortzone to run away from them because I don’t know any other way to live life but it isn’t okay. I have to get my 4 wisdom teeth pulled out but I will do it one by one. Just writing about it already gives me anxiety. I need to do it this year in Spain. I don’t want to keep postponing the appointments until I really get pain and need to go urgently. The dentist here is really nice and understanding. I can do it and everything wil be okay πŸ’ͺ

3) Getting my first job πŸ’°

I’m scared of working because I never worked before. I only did an internship of 5 months here in Valladolid, in Spain last year. It was in The International Relations Office of the University of Valladolid. It was really nice. I did a great job. Working feels for me a big responsibility. I’m afraid to fail or that it will be too much to handle with having anxiety. I also keep applying for jobs but don’t hear anything back. I need to keep going. My dream is to work and live in Spain so I really do hope I can make this dream come true ❀️πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ Just last week I also applied to one job in Lisbon, Portugal. This week I will get a call back. I have been thinking that maybe it’s time to go outside my comforzone and just go for it. I’m nervous but also excited about it. It’s from a Dutch Website which is called Grenzelooswerk and they help you with everything.

4) Keep reading good books πŸ“š

I’m beginning to read again like I used to do when I was a child. I love it. It makes me feel so happy and calm. I love to read great books and forget the whole world around me. You learn so much about life, the world and just everything from reading πŸ“–. I will keep reading this new year. If anyone has some tips of books that I need to read they are very welcome. I love the books of John Green, poetry books from Rupi Kaur and The Spinster Club series books from Holly Bourne.

5) Writing great content on blog πŸ–‹οΈ

In this new year I want to continue writing more amazing posts for my blog. I want to write book reviews, my own written poems, singing covers and more posts about lifestyle, mental health, feminism, travelling, and self love. These are the most important themes of my blog. I hope you will all like it. I will also maybe look for a new design for my blog even though I find it difficult to make that. I hope that it will work out πŸ™

6) Asking for help when I need it πŸ’•

This is also an important goal for me to reach this year. If I struggle with finding a job or with my anxiety I need to know that it’s okay to ask people for help. If I can’t do something on my own it’s okay to admit that you need help. We all need help sometimes in life. I always thought that asking for help would mean that I’m weak and not strong enough. I’m learning that asking for help is a good thing to do and also takes a lot of courage. We are all in this together πŸ’ͺ

7) Go to a surf camp in Spain πŸŒŠπŸ„β€β™€οΈ

I didn’t go surfing for more than two years and I really miss it so much. I went a few times to a Surf Camp in the north of Spain and I loved it. I have to admit that I got scared of the big waves and I didn’t like some surf teachers pushing me through that fear. However, there are many surf camps with great teachers here in Spain who won’t push you that way. I love surfing even though I still can’t surf waves. I’m still a beginner. I had my own wetsuit but it’s too little now to wear 😭 I will buy a new one. Just being in the ocean, having fun and meeting new people is awesome. It’s such a great experience and I can’t wait to do it again this Summer 😍 I love the sea so much but I fear the amount of water and I fear drowning even though I can swim well so this goal is also about facing my fears.

8) Going to amazing concerts 🎢

Music is life 🎡🎼. I’m the happiest girl in the world when I listen to my favourite artists at a concert. I also love to meet them. These memories are for a lifetime. I can’t wait to go to more amazing concerts in Spain or in The Netherlands depends where I’m living. Going to concerts with my friends is one of my favourites things in life. I don’t like to be surrounded by many people so I’m never in the front line but I enjoy listening to live music so much. Without music we would all be so lost. For every mood there’s music to make us feel happy, less alone and inspired ✨

9) Travelling to new places 🌍

Travelling is also one of my favourites things to do in life ✈️. Travelling makes me so happy and so full of life 😍 This world is so beautiful and so magical. I love to discover new places, new countries, new cities and meet amazing people along the way. You learn so much from travelling such as going out of your comfortzone, speaking a foreign language or learning from another culture. I can’t wait to plan some exciting travels this year in 2019. Hopefully, I will also get a well paying job this year to save money for all the trips I want to make with my familiy, friends or alone. Keep on travelling πŸ’• Travel as much as you can, as far as you can and as long as you can. The world is yours.

10) Surround yourself with good people πŸ’–

It’s so important to be surrounded by good people instead of toxic people. They aren’t worth your time. Investing in good friendships or relationships is the best thing you can do. I’m thankful for my good friends, family and all the friends I met online. They only spread good vibes, love me for who I’m and respect me. That’s my tribe πŸ’• I can’t wait to meet more amazing people this year. I love to have fun with my friends and also love to have deep talks. When you surround yourself with good people you also feel more inspired and happier in life. Toxic people will only make you feel bad about yourself and will make you feel unhappy. Life is too short for negative vibes ✌️

Thank you all for reading this blog post. Did you like my goals? Can you relate to my new years goals? What are your goals for 2019? πŸŽ‰βœ¨ Let me know in the comments. I will speak to you all in my next blog post.

Much love πŸ’•,

xoxo Christina

Reflection on 2018 & happy new year to you all! πŸŽ‰βœ¨πŸ’•πŸ’«

Hey lovelies πŸ’•,

Happy new year to you all! βœ¨πŸŽ‰ In this post I will talk about my 2018 and will show you how I celebrated New Year’s Eve. I’m glad I don’t have a cold amymore but just tonight I got my period so yeah that also sucks 😭 I’m glad I take medication for the cramps because otherwise I wouldn’t survive it. Besides, I’m also being anxious about my appointment of getting one of my wisdom teeth pulled out this week. I keep postponing the appointment. I know I have to do it but I’m so scared. H e l p. I also don’t want to do it in Holland. Here in Spain it’s much cheaper and the dentist understands my anxiety but I’m still so afraid and I just feel like I can’t cope. If anyone have some more tips to survive it I will be forever grateful πŸ™πŸ’• I can always take medication for anxiety if that’s enough to help me cope with it.

IMG_20181228_221316.jpg

We are already in 2019. A year has flown by. As usually I want to reflect on my year with this post and also write some important things for you all. Every year has its ups and downs. Every year consists of good things and bad things which happen to us. The most important thing is how we react to all these things. I know how hard it’s to stay positive in this sometimes dark world. I just keep believing that there are so many good things in the world and that there are indeed so many good people. You just have to find your tribe. I’m so glad I did.

I’m so happy with my blogging community, mental health community, Yoga Girl community and the goddess revolution community. I’m thankful that I joined these communities this year. They made me feel less alone and so much happier. If I’m in Holland I will maybe go to a meet up with some yoga girls. I also really wish that we will continue to all be friends and hopefully one day we will all meet ✨ I know the universe brought us all together for a reason which is to be connected with awesome people, share our struggles and feel supported.

I learned a lot this year. I learn every day from this world. This year I realized that there are truly lovely people who care about you and want you to be happy. I learned that it’s better to have a few good friends than a million of fake friends. The ones who love you will always be there for you no matter what. I learned that true love exists when I saw my brother getting married in August in Spain. I learned that this life is an adventure. Sometimes we win and sometimes we loose. We learn from every experience. I also learned that it’s okay if I’m not where I want to be in life. I still have a long way to go. I will find a career I love and will keep growing. It all takes time, pacience and trust in myself. I have to love myself, believe in myself and know that I can make my dreams come true such as working and living in Spain ✨

I also went to my first feminist strike in Valladolid, in Spain on International Women’s Day on the 8th of March with my mother. This was such an empowerful event. I never went to a demonstration before. I really wish 2019 will be the year that less women will be suffering from violence. I wish that women and men have the same human rights. Together we are starting a revolution. This is just the beginning. 2019 will be the year where women can be themselves, love themselves and love each other πŸ’•

This year I also learned that music is the best thing in life 🎢 I would be lost without music. I went to so many amazing concerts such as the OperaciΓ³n Triunfo 2017 concert in Madrid with my friend Maria πŸ’• OperaciΓ³n Triunfo makes me so happy and full of life. I also enjoyed the concert of Pablo Alboran, Chenoa, Hombres G and Celtas Cortos with my mother in Valladolid. I also enjoyed so much the concert of Sofia Ellar with my friend Maria. I can’t wait to see her again. It was so lovely to meet Sofia and get a picture with her. She’s the best and I can’t wait to see her singing again 😍

This year I began to read again a lot which I loved to do so much when I was younger. I will continue reading this new year. I also kept writing and being creative. I hope to create more amazing content on this blog. Writing is amazing. I travelled to Madrid, Granada, Santander and Somo. I discovered Somo which is a beautiful surfing village in the north of Spain. In 2019 I really want to go to a surf camp again πŸ„β€β™€οΈπŸŒŠπŸŒž. I didn’t go surfing for more than two years. I miss it so much. It’s also so good for my mental health. The sea is my home and cleans my soul. The beach is my favourite place on this earth. I can’t wait to travel to more amazing places and meet more amazing people.

Maybe for some of you this year was a hard year. Maybe some of you have lost someone close to you. Maybe you just didn’t felt okay and were struggling. I’m here for you. It’s okay to grief. It’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to feel sad. Feelings change and emotions change but it all takes time. Try to not be hard on yourself next year. Remember, I’ll will always be there for you πŸ’• I hope you will invest in self love and self care this new year because that’s the most important thing that matters. I also encourage you all to surround yourself with people who love you and who bring you only good vibes because you deserve that ✨.

I celebrated my New Year’s Eve in Valladolid, in Spain. I decided to not go out with my friends. I also didn’t go out last year. I used to party every year but I don’t feel in the mood anymore. I have to do what feels good to me. I went to the hairdressers in the afternoon to cut the dead ends, my bangs and they made curls in my hair. I love to look good for myself. I dressed up at home and did my make up. My mother and I went to the house of the mother of the wife of my brother. We celebrated all together New Year’s Eve: Rafael, my mother, VΓ©ronica, VΓ©ronica’s mother and her brother. We enjoyed eating delicious Spanish food.

We ate cheese, jamon serrano, chorizo, bread and chicken. I didn’t eat the fish because I don’t like fish so much haha πŸ˜‚ At 12 o’clock we watched the television and ate the 12 grapes. We also had champagne πŸ₯‚. It’s a tradition in Spain to eat the 12 grapes. They say it brings luck. We watched television where we were hearing beautiful music and we played Spanish card games. I really loved it so much. I love playing games with my family. At 3.30 am my mother and I went home and we stayed in watching some television. We went to bed at 6 am pretty late but doesn’t matter because it’s a special night. I’m glad I didn’t go out because as soon as we were home I got my period haha. On New Year’s Day we just stayed in and chilled. I saw the movie Grease. I just love that movie & the music so much 😍 I also saw the movie Paper Towns which I love so much from John Green. I already saw this movie with my best friend one day and loved it.

l wish you all an amazing new year full of love, happiness and luck πŸ€βœ¨βœŒοΈ Stay strong & stay safe. We are all in this together πŸ’ͺ I love you all so so so much ❀️. Thank you all for reading. How was your New Year’s Eve? Did you stay at home or did you went to a party? Which are your goals or dreams to achieve in 2019? I would love to know. I will speak to you all soon in my next blog post.

Surf/beach playlist 🌊🎢🌴🌞

Hey lovely bloggers πŸ’•,

I have some great Summer blog posts ready for you this Summer. I already shared some. Today I would like to share with you all a surf/beach playlist for the Summer time. I can’t wait to go to the beach again this Summer as I only went one day. I think I’m going to a surf camp at the end of August. This Saturday is the wedding of my brother so I can’t wait to relax at the beach at the end of this month. I love all of these songs so much. These songs are not in any rank. I love them all equally so much. I hope you like them too.

textgram_1533855875-1927014743.png

  • Ed Sheeran – I see fire (Kygo remix)

I love this remix so much. I already love the original song from Ed Sheeran so much but this remix is just soooo beautiful. I remember that I found this remix just searching one day on Youtube. La belle Musique makes beautiful remixes. Whenever I listen to this song, I feel so relaxed and happy. The melody and the sound is really out of the world 😍 I saw Ed Sheeran once during a concert of Passenger where he came as a surprise to sing one song. I can’t wait to go to one of his concerts. He’s definitely one of my favourite artists ever.

  • Bob Marley – Is this love (Montmarte remix)

This is definitely one of my favourites songs ever. I listened to this song one day when I was on a surfcamp in Suances, in the north of Spain. I always listened to this song and find myself in that surfing mood. Bob Marley is just heaven on earth ❀. I love all his songs so much. This is my favourite remix of this song. It’s so beautiful and have such a relaxing sound!

  • Corona Extra: A journey by Taylor Steele – From where you’d rather be

I always listen to this song when I’m travelling. I listen to this when I’m on the airplane, bus or train. This song and also the videoclip is so beautiful. I definitely get that surf vibes πŸ„ I forget the whole world around me when I listen to this song. When I listen to this song I think of travelling the whole world and leaving everything behind me. This song gives me that feeling of freedom and wanderlust. I will never stop travelling because travelling makes you life richer.

“Take a break from this world
and we’ll feel miles away from the places that we used to be

as we lay in the sand and we stare at the sky
watch the moon dance in white as the stars light your eyes
oh my there’s no place on earth I’d rather be”

Xavier Rudd – Follow the sun

Xavier Rudd makes lovely music. This song is one of my favourites. The lyrics is beautiful and the melody and sound too. It makes me feel so peaceful. Whenever I listen to this song I feel definitely in the Summer mood. I will always follow the sun. This song is about cherishing the little moments in life 🌞

“So follow, follow the sun,
The direction of the bird,
The direction of love
Breathe, breathe in the air,
Cherish this moment,
Cherish this breath
Tomorrow is a new day for everyone,
Brand new moon, brand new sun”

Israel β€œIZ” Kamakawiwo’ole – Somewhere over the rainbow

This song is also one of my favourite songs ever. The melody, the sound and the lyrics is just perfect. I also love the singer so much. The singer died on a young age, just 38 years old because of obesitas. It’s such a sad story. I listen to this song so much and especially during Summer. It’s such a relaxing song 🌈

β€œAnd I think to myself what a wonderful world”

  • HONNE – Coastal love

I remember that I found this song on a list of Spotify of surf music. I love to find music just randomly. I love HONNE. They make so beautiful music. This song is perfect for a day on the beach. I get that surf and beach vibes 🌊

  • Crystal Fighters – Plage

Crystal Fighters is one of my favourite bands ever. It’s a band of electro, folk and indie. This is a Spanish/English band. The band’s origin is Navarra in the north of Spain and now they’re located in London. They also have a lot of concerts in Spain. I really want to go one. This song is such a great song for beach time in the Summer. It’s perfect and make me so happy. I also love the arty video clip.

  • Crystal Fighters – Love natural

I love this song of Crystal Fighters so much too πŸ’•. I heard it a lot when I went to a surf camp in Spain a few years ago. This song makes me so happy and the video is also beautiful. I get the melody of this song so fast in my mind. I love this genre of music so much.

  • The Vaccines – Wetsuit

This song means so much to me as I always listen to it when I’m going to surf. I’m still a beginner surfer but I really enjoy to be in the ocean and enjoy the waves. I can stand on the surf board but I still have to practice a lot to actually ride waves. This song is so awesome and I love the Instagram video. I saw The Vaccines once in a concert in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and it was really awesome. There was even a person who wore a wetsuit during that concert, haha so funny!

  • Drums – Let’s go surfing

This is again a song which I love to listen before I go surfing. I get that surfing vibes. The melody is upbeat and is really nice. I also find it funny that in the video you just see the guy running instead of surfing.

β€œWake up, it’s a beautiful morning honey, while the stars are still shining
Wake up, would you like to go with me
Honey, take a run down to the beach
Oh momma, I wanna go surfin”

  • Mr. Probz – Waves (Robin Schulz remix radio edit)

OMGGGG THIS SONG ASDFGHJKJL I JUST EVERYTHING 😍😍😍 I love it so much. I also especially love this remix of this song. It’s just so beautiful, relaxing and calming. I also loved the video so much because you can see the ocean and the waves. I don’t need more to feel real happiness in my heart.

  • Mandelbarth – Palmtree

This is such a great Summer song. I like the lyics and the sound. I found this song on a Youtube playlist of Mr. Revillz who has beautiful songs 🌴🌞

β€œUnder the palm trees is where we dance tonight
Back then it felt like a roller coaster ride
Oh! Under the palm trees, where I found my love”

  • DJ Antoine with James Gruntz – Song to the sea

Okay, so this is still one of my favourite songs ever. I will tell you a short story about this song. This one of my ex’s favourite songs too. It’s because of him I know this song. I always listened to this song with him. It was for me so difficult to listen to this song and not remind myself of him and our time together. I always ended up crying listening to this song. Now, I’m happy I can listen to this song again without crying and just feeling happy. I think it’s important to be able to listen to your favourite songs even though when it remind you of that person. I love the original song but this colloboration is just perfect. My ex was Swish and DJ Antoine is a Swiss house, electro DJ and producer from Basel. The lyrics is so beautiful and remind me of Summer time and how much I love to be young, wild & free ✌

β€œI beg you, raise your water to the feet of mine
So I can dip my toes, remember what it’s like
Just feeling free and having all the time I need
This is why I sing a song to the sea”

  • Vance Joy – Riptide

I always listened to this song on a surf camp. I love this song really so much. I also love the video because the video just relate so much to the lyrics. I also read on Youtube that the meaning of the song was that a girl was kidnapped and that the person made her sing this song but if she sang it wrong they would hurt her hence why her make up was smudged through the video. I first didn’t understand the video so I had to read the comments. I’m always late to get things hahah xD I think it’s such a deepful meaning behind this song. I’m also scared of dentists and the dark so I can really late to this song.

I hope you all liked this surf/beach playlist. Which one is your favourite song? Can you relate to my playlist? If you have any songs to add to this playlist let me know. I would love to know your thoughts and I always love to discover new music. Music is life 🎢😍

Much love ❀,

xoxo Christina

Summer 2018 bucket list πŸŒŠπŸŒžπŸŒ΄πŸ„πŸŠπŸ‘™πŸ’•

Hey lovely bloggers πŸ’–,

In this blog post I will share my Summer 2018 bucketlist 🌞. I will share the 10 main things I want to do this Summer. I already made a list of 100 thing in my journal but I thought it would be way too much to share haha. I do that every year and then I don’t do everything on that list because it’s too much. The list isn’t in any order and is my personal list.

textgram_1532142012-1274363300.png

  • Attend the wedding of my brother Rafael and his girlfriend VerΓ³nica

I think this is going to be one of the main events this Summer. I already have my dress for the wedding which I showed in this blog post Fuchsia dress and below. I went again to the shop a few weeks ago to make some adjustments for the dress and will get my dress back in one week. I’m looking forward to this wedding since they told it to us last Summer. I love weddings so much. The wedding is on the 11th of August. My other brother Edward married a few years ago. Now, it’s time for my other older brother Rafael who is going to marry his Spanish girlfriend VerΓ³nica. He’s going to marry with 40 years old and Veronica is 38 years old. It reminds me that it’s never too late to marry someone. Weddings are so special. My Spanish family and Dutch family are coming aswell as my niece. It’s going to be again one of the best days of my life, an unforgettable day where we celebrate the love of Rafael and VerΓ³nica with the whole family. I’m also going to my first bachelor party ever of Rafael and Veronica and their friends and some family members. We are going to bar to have dinner and fiesta time πŸŽ‰πŸ’ƒIt’s going to be fun!

  • Go to the outdoor swimming pool at least 20 times in Valladolid

I only go 6 or 7 times in the Summer months and it’s really short for the two Summer months. The outside swimming pools are open since the end of June till the beginning of September. Sometimes I find myself lazy to go but I know that it will do me so much good. Swimming is good for relaxing and good for my mental health aswell. I love swimming so much. It’s good for my back pain, my anxiety and just everything. I always feel hungry and sleepy after swimming. It makes me feel like I’m flying in the air hahah πŸ˜‚. It’s such a good natural medicine. I also already read somewhere that the colour blue from the ocean and from the swimming pool make you feel so happy and relaxed. I already went three times to the swimming pool this Summer, so I will keep going to reach my goal of 20 of more times. Here are some pictures from these days.

  • Travel to the beach as much as I can

I want to go to the beach this Summer as much I can. I live in Valladolid which is in the main centre of Spain. The nearest beach for me is in Santander which is three hours away by train. I hope I can go to Santander after the wedding as in August or September. I love the beach so much 🌊. I always miss it and cry when I have to go home. The ocean is my home. It’s so good for your health, happiness and mindset. I’m going to Granada next week to visit a friend and we are going to the beach one or two day like we did a year ago. I can’t wait to swim in the Mediterranean Sea. Good vibes only! ✌ There the sea water is warm and not like the cold water in the north of Spain which is the Atlantic Ocean.

  • Be creative and invest time doing my favourite hobbies

I love to blog and I’m happy to keep on writing amazing content. I want to expand content and always come up with new ideas. In August my blog will turn one year old and I want to celebrate it with you all. I also love to write poetry and want to share it with you all. I also love to read and want to read more self help books and magazines which also helps to beat my anxiety. I want to keep taking pictures with my polaroid and digital camera. I want to record more singing covers because I love singing. I sang in a choir for 11 years and enjoy it a lot. Maybe, I can start a Youtube channel so that I can share it on my blog with you all. I want to continue writing in my journal and cherish memories. Being creative is just the best. I hope I can be really creative this Summer and share it with you all β€πŸ‘Œ

  • Go stargazing and see beautiful sunsets on the beach

I love the moon, the stars, the sun and just the whole universe so much. I love to go stargazing in the Summer and especially on the beach. It’s just so beautiful to see all those bright stars in the darkness. In the Summer you can also see many shooting stars. I love to make wishes on shooting stars. I also love to watch beautiful sunsets on the beach. It always looks like the sun is going down in the sea. The colours of the sunsets are also stunning and so beautiful. It give such a sense of peace. I always take some pictures from this moment to cherish these beautiful memories. The picture on the right is from La Rabita, Granada (Mediterranean Sea) where I went last Summer and will go again this Summer.

  • Face a fear

It’s great to have this as a challenge this Summer. By facing a fear I mean something I get anxious about and which makes me uncomfortable. For me facing a fear means a lot to conquer. I love to run away from things and postpone everything I fear rather than face it because of my anxiety. I know it’s bad because this fear will grow and grow. Then it will be more and more difficult to face that fear at the end. I have to go to the dentist because I have a caries in my wisdom teeth and I’ve some problems there. I know I’ve to do it even though the dentist makes me so anxious. I also have to look for a job and I don’t like job interviews (I’ve only had one in life and they never called me back) and also don’t like calling. If I face one of these fears this Summer I would be really proud of myself πŸ’ͺ. I know I’ve to push myself a bit but it will be worth it. I hope you can all wish me luck πŸ€

  • Travel a lot

I love to travel, meet new people and be in contact with people from other cultures. It really expands your mind. Travelling makes me so happy. I want to travel at least 2 or 3 times this Summer. I’m going to Granada (Andalucia, which is in the south of Spain and take 7 hours by bus from Valladolid – 600 km!) next Tuesday the 24th till the Saturday 28th with my mother. I’m going to visit my friend Antonio and his family. I met him on my way to New York City three years ago when I won the Many Languages, One World Essay Contest. It was in the Summer of 2015. Soon, I’m going to make a blog post about this one day. I’ve already been twice to Granada and loved it so much. We are also going to the beach of La RΓ‘bita. Going to Granada feels like a tradition because I go every Summer. My mother and I booked a hotel in the city centre which is perfect to enjoy eating tapas, shopping, visisiting the city and the beautiful Alhambra. You will see a blog post about this travel trip soon. I also want to go to a surf camp this Summer in the north of Spain and go a few days to enjoy the beach in Santander with my friend Maria in August or September. The picture below with “life is for…” is a picture I made during a holiday in Mallorca a few years ago. The picture below with my favourite beach towel was made last Summer in La Rabita, Granada.

  • Go to concerts/festivals

I love going to concerts so much, especially in the Summer because they’re almost every time outside. I also love to go to festivals and went one time in The Netherlands to Surfana festival with my best friend where there was beautiful live music, great food and awesome things to do such as surfing, doing yoga, wine tasting and other creative activities. Going to concerts and enjoying your favourite artist is just the best. Music is life and definitely increase my happiness 🎢. I already went to the concert of Sofia Ellar which took place last month. I also am going to enjoy the fiestas week in Valladolid in the beginning of September with my mother and friends. There are going to be many awesome concerts in the main square of the city centre. This is going to be the third time that I’m going to enjoy this beautiful week.

  • Go surfing after two years

The last time I went surfing was during Surfana festival two years ago in the Summer of 2016. I really miss surfing so much. Last Summer, I said that I was going to a surf camp and at the end I didn’t go. I also had to study during that Summer time which was the worst thing ever. I went twice to a surf camp here in Spain. It was so awesome. I want to go this Summer again to a surf camp, meet new people and enjoy surfing. Surfing makes you feel so free, happy and peaceful. I have my own wetsuit but I’ve to wear it and look if I still fit in it. I’m a beginner and still can’t surf waves but I’m learning it. Surfing is just da best πŸŒŠπŸ„βœŒThe ocean is where I’m the most happy. I enjoy every single moment and forget the whole world around me. I respect the ocean and sometimes I get scared because it feels infinite and is so deep. The ocean is everything I want to be. Beautiful, mysterious, wild and free. The picture below is from the Summer of 2015 where I went to Art Surf Camp in Galicia, in Spain.

  • Be happy and enjoy Summer to the fullest

Maybe, this can sound cliche but it’s really important for me to just enjoy Summer and be happy.Β Last Summer, I enjoyed Summer but was feeling many times worried and anxious because I didn’t pass my last exam of law from my studies in order to graduate. I had to do this exam again at the end of August. I remember times that I went to the swimming pool and when I came back home I was tired and had to study during the night. It was really exhausting for me. This Summer, I’m free and I just want to be happy and enjoy everything what Summer has to offer. Feeling bad in Summer makes me feel even worse because Summer is the time that life feels lighter and I also feel so much happier in Summer. I’m a Summer girl right πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜„πŸŒž Go away winter. I wish it could be Summer forever but then maybe you don’t enjoy it as much as I do now. That feeling of longing for Summer I’ve all year long is so great when it’s finally Summer and you can enjoy it. The sunshine is makes me feel so happy.

I love the pictures I shared in this blog post. I searched these pictures on Google and Tumblr. I hope you like them too. Thank you all for reading this blog post. I hope you all like this blog post. What are your Summer plans? Do you also have a Summer bucketlist? Do you also love the beach as much as I do? Do you like my list and can you relate to it? I would love to know it in the comment section. I will speak to you all in my next blog post. I hope you all enjoy Summer. Happy Summer to you all! 🌞✌

Love you all so much πŸ’•,

xoxo Christina

Liebster award 2x <3

Hey lovely bloggers <3,

Liebster-award-thanks.png

I got nominated for the Liebster Award twice. I’m sorry it took a bit longer but I wanted to take my time to write a good blog post. The Liebster Award is an award to discover new, beginning blogs and is a great way to connect and support the blogging community. I feel so honoured that I was nominated for this award twice! πŸ˜€

The rules of this award are the following steps:

Step 1: write a 150-300 word post about your favourite blog that is not your own

My favourite blog on WordPress is without any doubt from the beautiful Chloe ❀ ❀ ❀ I met her on Instagram where she post beautiful pictures about self love and mental health. Her blog is all about her journey to self love while suffering from anxiety. She is also my mail friend like pen pal. I love to be friends with her and hopefully I will meet her one day.

On her blog and on Instagram she stays authentic and honest. I love that she shares the good and bad in life. Mostly, we can see a lot of fake people on social media but she is real. Her posts are about her struggles and how to find happiness while suffering from anxiety. Her posts and quotes really inspire me, make me happy and make me feel less alone. I encourage anybody following my blog, to follow her blog too because you won’t regret it!

Step 2: thank the blogger who nominated you

Thank you for nominating me for the Liebster Award, Cat and Anjana.  Your blogs are so awesome and inspire me so much. I love your blog posts about everything in life. Thank you so much for thinking of me. I encourage everybody to follow these two amazing blogs! ❀

Step 3: 10 facts about yourself (optional)

My blog is now almost three months old. I shared some personal stuff about me over the last three months, however I will share some facts about myself in case you don’t know them 😊.

  • I used to sing in a choir for 11 years in The Netherlands and travelled through Europe to sing with my choir in awesome places like in St. Peter’s Square, Rome for the Pope Benedict XVI.
  • I’m half Spanish/half Dutch; my father is Dutch, my mother is Spanish
  • I grew up between two cultures: Spanish and Dutch culture; I lived all my life in Haarlem, The Netherlands but am now living in Valladolid, Spain (The place where my mother was born).
  • I love writing poems and just all my thoughts and feelings.
  • I love surfing; I’m an beginner surfer, I went two two surf camps in Spain and surfed a lot in The Netherlands too. Even though I can’t catch like real waves I enjoy it haha and it makes me feel so free and happy (It’s already been more than one year that I didn’t surf, hopefully I will surf again soon).
  • I’m an highly sensitive person which means that I have a nervous system that is more sensitive than others and it process things more deeply. In other words, I feel more and love more. About 20% of the population has this personality trait. I can connect with the world in a way other people can’t. I cry and suffer more, but I also love deeply and have a deep appreciation of the beautiful world around me.
  • I think and dress like a hippie haha peace all the way! ❀
  • I used to do competitive swimming in The Netherlands, once I won the first price of estafette with my group. I really love swiming and would love to swim more because it’s really great to beat my anxiety.
  • I have anxiety for like my whole life. I blog about this a lot because it really helps to vulnerable and I get great support from all the people here. Since 8 months, I’m taking antidepressants like 20 mg each day and a benzo when I feel really anxious. This is really helping me a lot even though I’m now in a period of transition from college to real life which is really hard to cope with but I hope I will be okay soon.
  • I love travelling and travelled a lot through Europe. One of my biggest dream was going to New York City. Two years ago I won the Many Languages, One World Essay contest of 2015. I won a free trip to New York City in the summer of 2015. Our essays were related to the sustainable development goals. I wrote about the importance of gender equality between men and women. I wrote my essay in Spanish. I was in the Spanish team and we worked on our presentation for the United Nations together those days. We had to do a speech in the United Nations. Our project was called EMMA. This proyect was about how to end hunger, achieve food security and sustainablity. It was all so inspiring 😍. It made me think of all the things I wanna change in the world. This was definitely a once in a lifetime experience. I’m forever blessed to have experienced this and met everlasting friendships from people all over the world.

Step 4: Answer the questions your nominator has asked

First I will answer the questions of Cat 😊.

1) What’s your favorite book?

My favourite book is definitely β€œThe fault in our stars”. It’s a love story between two teenagers who have cancer. It’s soooo damn beautiful and emotional. You all should read this book in case you didn’t read it. I also love the movie so much.

2) Tell your favorite quote and why? (mention from which book, in case it’s from a book, you took it).

I have so many favourite quotes but this is definitely one of my favourites from my favourite book: β€œThe fault in our stars – John Green”. This quote is just so beautiful and so true because it shows what true love is and the hard truth of life.

β€œI’m in love with you,” he said quietly.

“Augustus,” I said.

“I am,” he said. He was staring at me, and I could see the corners of his eyes crinkling. “I’m in love with you, and I’m not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I’m in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we’re all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we’ll ever have, and I am in love with you.”

3) When did you felt most satisfied with your life?

I felt the most satisfied and happiest in my life when I achieved one of my biggest dream which was going to New York City. Two years ago I won the Many Languages, One World Essay contest of 2015. I won a free trip to New York City in the summer of 2015 and spoke at the United Nations. I shared more details in the 10 facts about myself.

4) If you could choose live in any other place, where would it be ?

I would love to live in a place near to the ocean where it’s sunny every day like Hawaii, California, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Australia or Aruba. I would love to visit these places one day. I’m dying to go to Aruba and meet a famous yoga instructor called Yoga Girl and go on a yoga retreat and surf in the ocean of Aruba.

5) Are you capable of managing your social life with your blogging life?

Yes, of course! However, it’s kinda strange that sometimes I feel more connected to the blogging community than with people in my real life. I feel like I can share all my thoughts and feelings especially with having anxiety. I feel so much support here and it helps me so much.

6) Horror movies or Comedy movies? And why

Comedy movies of course, because I can’t watch horror movies. I’m a highly sensitive person and while having anxiety horror movies are just not my movies. It’s way too much for my senses. Comedy movies and romantic movies are the best 😊 ❀ They make me so happy!

7) If you had to spend the rest of your life with only one person, who would it be?

This is a difficult question because I really love all my good friends and family. I would spend it with my lovely mother because she is the one who always support and understand me. She is always there for me. I love her too infinity and beyond! ❀ She is the most important person in my life.

8) What is your favorite song? And why?

I love music so much that I really can’t choose one favourite song. One of my favourite songs is: Is this love from Bob Marley. I heard this song in a surf van when I was doing a surf camp in Spain. I just love those hippie vibes and it makes me feel so free and happy. Love and peace is the way in life! ❀

These are my answers of the questions of Anjana :).

1) Describe your personal sense of style?

My personal sense of style is hippie style. I love kinda hippie clothes and the boho style of fashion. My room is this style too haha. I wear flower headbands and a dream catcher as necklace. I also love to wear clothes with Aztec print. This all creates me the hippie feeling which means for me to have a free spirit, open heart and mind.

2) Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

I never like those kind of questions because it makes me feel insecure. I’m 24 right now so in 5 years I will be 29, that’s old hahah no. Sometimes, I’m afraid of the future and I just don’t know what I want do in my life. I never have like a plan. I hopefully see myself in 5 years being even more happy with myself, have faced more fears, being able to deal better with my anxiety, doing things that makes me happy and make a career out of it. Hopefully, I also have travelled to more amazing and beautiful places in the world and have made more memories and aventures with the people I love in life. I see myself livinig in Spain or somewhere else where it’s sunny and near to the ocean where I can surf.

3) Who is most important to you and why?

Definitely, my mother! ❀ She is the one that always support me in everything in life and is just always there for me. I love her so much. She is a strong and beautiful woman ❀ She is also the person who learned me Spanish and for that I’m forever blessed. Thanks to being able to speak Spanish, I won the essay contest of New York City and spoke at the United Nations.

4) What are 3 blog posts that everyone should have on their blog?

3 blog post that should be on every blog are one about ending the stigma of mental health illnesses, #me too campaign, and travels. Those are really important subjects for me and always keep me interested in reading them.

5) What is one thing you can’t live without?

That’s a difficult question…. Maybe some people would say their phone haha, but actually I can live without it. It’s not a real need. One thing I surely can’t live without is: WATER. I think many people take for granted all the things we have yet in so many countries in the world people still don’t have access to water which is one of the primary needs during the life of a human being!!! We drink water, we wash our clothes with water, we shower, we cook,…. we need water. It’s also the best thing to drink in the Summer because it doesn’t make me more thirsty like fanta or coca cola that contains so much sugar. I just love water even if it’s tasteless haha. It’s the best thing in the world! ❀ It’s so damn refreshing! 😍

Step 5: Nominate 5-11 bloggers with under 200 followers

It was a bit difficult find bloggers with less than 200 followers haha but I found some amazing bloggers :).

toomuchtooyoungblog.wordpress.com

prometheanreport.wordpress.com

moonlightsandmacaroons.wordpress.com

inspiringdude.wordpress.com

writtenbyroxy.wordpress.com

annepersonalblog.wordpress.com

lavenderhearts.blog

thehappinesshunt.wordpress.com

Step 6: Ask your nominee some questions

I’m excited to read your answers! πŸ™‚

1) Do you believe in life after death and why?

2) What do you find most important in life?

3) What would you do with the money if you won the lottery?

4) What is your favourite season and why?

5) What do you want to change in this world and why?

I had soooo much fun writing this long blog post even though it cost me some time but here’s it is 😊. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Much love,

xoxo

World mental health day; Remember, you are not alone πŸ’ž

Hey lovelies πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•,

Today is an important day in the world. Today it’s world mental health day. This subject is close to my heart because I have struggled and still struggle with anxiety for like my whole life. I have already shared a lot about having anxiety on my blog. I was always feeling anxious for new things, changes in life, presentations, for dentists or doctors appointments, just anything that make me feel uncomfortable. Everybody can feel this way in their lives.

However, I felt it way more heavy than others. I’m also a highly sensitive person which means that I feel more. I feel every emotion so deep, may it be a bad or good emotion. I’m also a person who analyse and overthink every situation which makes my anxiety even worse.

Last year I went to the doctor in The Netherlands and got some therapy sessions but it didn’t seem to work. It made my anxiety even worse. It ain’t for everybody. I also took some natural meds such as St. Jans Wort but it didn’t seem to work. Since I went to the doctor here in Spain and got subscriped antidepressants I feel sooo much better than before. These weeks I feel bad again, but it’s the transition of college to real life. I know this energy will shift again. There are just bad and good periods in my life.

For anybody suffering from a mental health issue please talk with a loved one, get support and help and do what feels right to you. If therapy sessions makes you feel better, do it. If exercise as yoga, swimming or surfing helps, do it. Don’t feel ashamed. I was so ashamed of taking antidepressants because I felt like that if I take that I would be crazy in my head. We can take meds for physical pain but not for mental pain?! Like there needs to be a different mindset. Just do what feels good to you.

For me these things make me feel good about myself:

  • Surfing: I really can’t wait to surf again and feel so free
  • Reading: I love to read novels and self help books
  • Writing: I love to write poems
  • Blogging: I love to write on this blog. It’s my safe space with such a lovely community πŸ’ž
  • Singing: I used to sing in a choir for 11 years
  • Being surrounded by my family and friends who support me
  • Nature: It’s just the best for our health πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’ž Fresh air πŸπŸ‚πŸƒ
  • Photography
  • Being creative
  • Travelling: I love to go to new places and can distance myself from all the worries I have
  • Swimming
  • Yoga
  • Eating and sleeping well

There are so many other things that you can do to make you feel good. You just have to find what’s best for you. You know yourself as it best. Remember, to always be kind to yourself. You are loved and not alone.

We need to end the mental health stigma. Every day is mental health day. Mental health is as important as physical health. There are still so many people from all different ages and nationalities suffering. They all need help and we need to end the stigma around this issue. They are not crazy in their minds, they need help, support and compassion. To raise awareness you can draw a circle on your hand with the hastag #iamwhole or wear something yellow with the the hastag #helloyellow and post it on social media.

Remember, we are all in this together, you are not alone πŸ’œπŸ’•πŸ’«

Much love,

xoxo πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’ž
